Hello Everyone,

I am looking for some hints/tips here on adsense placements!

I am going to put ad's on http://www.basilando.com/forums/ but how can I make this work the best ( like here on this site, because i simply love it on this site )

tips/hints/points all would be great! I know there are some really adsense guru's here( who prob secretly work for g aswell ) so i'm inviting you to help me out!

you only have 1 post. I would get a couple hundred members chatting before I put ads on the site.

There is an inline banner ad mod for phpbb that puts the adsense code after the first post.. very effective.. but again I would wait a little bit..

Good Luck.

i know I know, first get visitors and stuff. But I'm just looking at what my options are. Not really interested in the adsense code after the first post ( is it effective like many people click on it or what? ) and is there not a way to do it like htis forum? A text link integrated

The inline banner mod inserts any code of your choice between posts - I've finally settled on text links like here at DP but set them to show only to visitors as I had a couple of comments on my forum about the ads and to be honest I don't want to draw too much attention to them incase my regulars decide to 'help out' by clicking on them...

IMO, AdSense doesn't actually perform that well on forums. I think it's more suited to other sites.

I kind of agree but having a forum integrated into a content site can usefully increase visitor numbers and feeding a few subtle ads into the same forum doesn't do any harm. FWIW the income from just my forum area pays for all my hosting bills every month plus a few beers :p

First off, your web forum doesn't seem to be a crowdy place. AdSense won't help unless you get more traffic.

Yap! Traffic is more important. You must improve your traffic first before putting any adsense and it will be better.

Klaas Koopman,

You should add few good contents to your forum and concentrate on a specific target audience. I would advice you to make your forum at least filled with 20 to 30 members, which you can add through your friend circle.
Start with some refreshing topics, burning issues few interesting topics, off topics, so that it can create interest to your visitors and members. You can also implement the referral program to make it fairly crowded. Thereafter you should look for a suitable ad campaign as ad cost will be much costly to you in current stage.

True, but even forums that get reasonable levels of traffic don't do that much with AdSense, in my experience at least, and compared with the performance of AdSense on other sites.

He means he likes to know what kind of hack, templates etc he will need to use to optimize his ads as best as possible. Try the search button on the forum next time. I dont want to keep you empty handed so try here (http://www.google.com/search?as_q=adsense&num=10&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&lr=&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_qdr=all&as_occt=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=www.phpbb.com&safe=images) and here here (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all&q=adsense+site%3Awww.phpbbhacks.com&btnG=Search) . If you cant find it let me know.

Starting a forum is like writing a book.... you may have to get the ball rolling yourself..

Good luck.. you should be able to get a low ctr out of your forums...
