I know there are a few threads on the URL and reporting changes...

But something else even more useful may be a foot. With section targeting.

Good stuff.
Most needed options for webmaster.

This is especially useful for pages that have not been indexed by google.
It will help mediabot figure out ads to show instead of falling back to showing ads relavent to the homepage only.

Terrible feature, now we will get poeple posting all kind of BS on their pages trying to target high paying keywords that have nothing to do with the real content

Now google actually tells people to do it! If I am advertising insurance policies and paying 10 bucks per click, I wouldn't want my ads to be forced on a site about golf clubs

Yes! Third time lucky. Well, that is interesting. And useful for me. I don't have to post BS, Fryman, I have a destination site that covers a lot of ground. It would be good to specify which type of ads I want on topic pages. I'd say Google is doing a good job with this to try and satisfy publishers and advertisers. I'll definately give it a go and see how it works,

Looks good to me, hopefully I'll see less ecard ads and more relevant stuff instead.

Just make sure there's enough content inside the tags.
It's abit vague by significant amount isn't it?

Please also note that in order to properly implement this feature, you'll need to include a significant amount of content within the section targeting tags. Including insufficient content may result in less relevant ads or PSAs.

They also mention that the tag will not be effective until the new page is crawled and indexed.
So my theory on relavent ads on unindex pages are out the window.

I'd suggest you put the start tag before the <h1> tag to get the most important part of the page in there also.

You might publish quality stuff, e10, but this just makes it easier for the ones that don't and are just looking to get high paying keywords on their site

Yeah but I can think of a lot of uses for it to really target actual content. Forums come to mind as one place. Anyways, I think it will just be easier catch abusers as they "pack" their targetting tags.

I also don't see how it's different.

Edit: Oh I see! I think it's pretty cool.

but surely people will still only click the ads if they want to know more.

true, but if the ad's are hiding quite well, you know a lot of people just click on links to get a nother page or something, so... it's not all people who want to find out more justl ike that!

Fist thing that comes to my mind with this is some ridiculous thread of someone with an elvis site that wanted to show ads about cruises and insurance

I believe that I will be able to use these new features to:

1. Block the page footer from drawing ad relevancy.
2. Block the DigitalPoint ad network from drawing keyword relevancy.
2a. Add sites into the DigitalPoint ad network that I did not have in the network before because of AdSense.
3. (Hopefully) attract ads to pages which AdSense just can't figure out. OK, really I am not so hopeful about this one. But I will try.

Yeah but I am not sure this actually gets you to do this...

You would have to create an entire section of the page about cruises and then target it for the ad. I don't see regular publishers doing this.

Yeah first thing I did on one of my sites was to exclude the headers and footers. Then in my forums I included the actual content. It has worked out very well. I can post a sentence or two in a new topic and by the time I refresh I have ads targeted to that topic.

I wasn't having those kind of results on forum topics that veered off from the main topic of my site, but now it will take any subject and you can focus it pretty directly.

I was getting sick and tired of seeing ads about "Irritable Bowel Syndrome" on a site about web design.

Plus, looks like Google increased the number of channels. YAY!!!!

Now, they just need to figure out how to prevent ads about 'Machine Tags', 'Safety Tags', and 'ID tags' on pages about HTML tags.

I apologize if this had already been mentioned but I didn't see another thread about it. Google has a new feature for publishers called Section Targeting. Anyone tried it yet? It says it can take two weeks for it to be implemented. This is really great news since so many of my ads are irrelevant. This may help get rid of all those blog ads!

Thats the same idea I had in my mind. :D Let see whether I will be able to get some more relevant ads. ;)

There seems to be a problem sometimes to see that page, but you may also try browsing:
