How much do blog posts really help with link building? I see people offering good PR blog post reviews for money, do those links in those posts count as good link backs? Will they help?

Will they help?If the blog is related to your site then yes - BL will count. I have PR7 Blogs linking to my site and my site not only gets good traffic (because it is similar topic) but my site is now also ranking high in the SERPs. Actually very close to the blog rank :)

Even an unrelated blog, but related post helps to some extent...but yeah, if the core of the blog is relevant to your field, and the links in to that blog are also relevant, then it seems to count much better.

If it does not help, I think people will not be buying them, so i assume they help.

During my "competition research" the other night i have found out that 99% of the links my competitor has come from blogs. They are doing well too. Go figure...

Well there are alot of benefits from a blog. You can links either and or through the blogrolls or blog posts. I myself have about 40+ blogs and they have helped considerably from the last update. A few jumped from atleast 2 PR's. And have brought in a certain amount of traffic even at a small rate of traffic.

Well, I have 157 blogs in my network and clients that have articles written by me or they provide their own are seeing great results from it. The backlinks alone are GOLD.

Blog contents can get ranking faster and if the blog has good content that get high traffic there is possibilities that your site can be noticed and might click your link. Your link also can be counted as backlinks.

I agree that blog post helps :) However, I think that their effect reduces when moved to the archive..

Why don't you write something cool and ask the famous bloggers to look at it - they will write up something and give you a free link, unless you want specific 'anchor' text then they may charge you.
