Tricks to link buidling for online stores?

I build an online monogramming store for some ladies in my office. They are really popular locally and now want to try to get some "internet" business.

What techniques might one emply to link build for non content based sites like stores?

and why would a store not have content. no point in spending the time and money on link building if you dont have content IMO. get your content then link build.

Following mrsolutions to points, make sure the blog has very helpful articles. Blog should also have social bookmarking links. Now because Blog is helpful, people will bookmark, plus digg it, stumble it, etc... Eventually you will have back links to the blog and possible to the products as well.
