PayPal for me - as the average internet user is much more likely to heard of it, trust it and use it than Ikobo in my experience.

Paypal for me too - not that I really like them, their just generally accepted by everybody, so it's just logical to use them, in my opinion.

In that case, it is not that you prefer Ikobo. It's that you have NO CHOICE.
(I was in same situation months ago, unable to use Paypal here, but moved away from Ikobo since, because they a) still don't accept Mastercard b) ceased the usage for merchant-like purposes, which effectively persuaded me they are only good for occasional money transfers.)

As ArticleFactory said, you don't actually prefer them, its that they are the only one you could use.
Paypal is 100 times better than ikobo. The ONLY reason to use ikobo is if you aren't allowed to use Paypal.

It's not just my preference I have to think about its my visitors preference that is much more important.
One should offer as may payment options as one can or as make sense.
On my sites and my client sites I try to use one expensive but recognized credit card processor like WP as well as PayPal and for example here in the UK Nochex (country specific) as well as banktransfer etc.
People who have used one of them already are likely to easily use it again on my (your) site. Thus there is no choice between PP and IK if one feels they will both be used put them both on.
Always make it as easy as pos for your visitor. If he/she has to think about the payment you may have lost him/her......

what do you think is the closest choice to Paypal? Is it ikobo? I'm aware that Paypal IS the best but there are lots of us that cannot use it...

I prefer Paypal.
I'd say that the closest choice to Paypal is (for me anyway...) Moneybookers (http://www.moneybookers)

IKOBO is simple the best. It is lot more easier to receive payment from all over the world.
