Changing bids taking advert offline

Does changing your bid for a keyword take the advert off-line for a while? I've just got a feeling that it does because my stats seem to show less traffic from msn immediately after changing the bid prices.

Anyone else noticed this?

well if you lower it.... and some bids are a sweet spot. maybe the previous bid put you in a certain place under other advertisers that caught more peoples eye
