I know similar questions have been asked before, but I'm curious. Shawn, I noticed you put your Adsense ads up at the level of the banner. You also did the same with your blog. Do you get a better click-thru up there, or do you not like it below the banner?

Never really watch that close to know... Just seemed like a logical place.

From what I have seen... that is the 3rd best place to put AdSense ads.

<drum roll>

#4. Footer
#3. Header
#2. Right side
#1. Left side

Moving ads from the right side to the left side raised my CTR about 50%.

I believe (but have very poor capabilities to test) that small ads inline with content will perform best. This will be awesome when (if?) Google eventually lets us place multiple ad units on the same page.

I agree. I look forward to the day.
I just hope people don't go overboard (you knwo they will) and put ads at every paragraph.
Maybe google will just specifiy 2 places on one page at first. Thus slowly getting users used to it/not letting people go crazy. :D

. . . small ads inline with content will perform best. This is definitely my belief. I use straight-text ads, with the border/background set to that of the page, and I place them inline where they seem--to me--unobtrusive but likely to be seen by anyone actually reading the page.

I haven't experimented with alternatives--I try to keep my sites rather on the "quiet" side as to looks--but the click-through rates I am seeing seem to be, to the extent that anyone else tells or that I would say, roughly double the overall average.

At any rate, those rates are satisfactory for something that I can include without it really intruding on the content and look-and-feel.

Wow I thought that you would get a better click throgh by putting your banners on the right side of the page example I saw this site Mexican Recipes (http://www.atole.net) site the ads are on the right side of the page.

Can anyone tell where would be the best place to put your ads??

The best place, to contradict my earlier post, is in the middle, just before the content.

or next to the content in a floating div :)
