View Full Version : Best Job Board script or software?

adigitaldreamer

Not sure if this fits here, but...

Anyone know of any good job board software/script for setting something secure up so people can look for jobs, post their resumes, and employers can post jobs, review, and so on? I'd eventually like to have a paid subscription model for employers once things (and if) they pick up.

Anyone know of any good job board scripts or software?

Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Brian

I once toyed with the idea of a jobs site and tested Diesel Job Site.
I found it very easy to use and it seems to have everything you are looking for. It's not free but it's very cheap compared to others ($39).

Hi,

Iam a happy customer of ejobsitesoftware for my jobsite - bpojobsite.com
Our company chose them after evaluating all other scripts/software's which we found were too primitive or stodgy in design.
ejobsitesoftware provides custom design very advanced software and we are happy with thier support in terms of customization and additional feature additions.

My 2c worth
- ejobsitesoftware.com - too expensive; many pages in their website are blanks; looks like they copied code from oscommerce and customized it. I am not sure about the legality of this
- looks like webscribble is reasonable and Ok for the price; I am a customer of webscribble

thanks

I am (probably) capable of coding this type of project myself, though I shudder to think of the time that would probably be consumed! This sort of thing would require a pretty complex data model.

Most scripts I have bought have been a little bit of a disappointment, as they have not really saved me the kind of time I hoped for. Tweaking them out seems to end up going on for hours and days. One program claimed image upload capabilities but it did not work for me, and a look at their support forum showed a number of others with the same problem.

I have been most satisfied with the BosMarket directory program. The purchase confirmation took only about one hour before I could download it and start setting it up. Tweaking took a few hours, but only hours, not days. Regarding the licensing and the posting regarding Diesel Jobs, this script sends the developer your URL (which you give them when you purchase), and your license key, which they already know anyway. I reviewed the code pretty thoroughly to confirm this. I bought it yesterday afternoon, and it is already functional at a site I started on last week at
http://www.thebathtubrefinishingsite.com/refinishers/
I'm happy with the package and the company. I only wish that BosDev had a job site application backed with the same engineering standards, licensing terms, and apearance customization!

I found an open source project at source forge searching for PHP Jobs or PHP Job Site. There was only one that I found, and there has not been a lot of development on it for a couple years. I'm thinking now that I may work with it as a basis, then tweak it out, maybe using an additional advertising script (SoftBiz Admanager Plus(?)reviews? Comments?).

Anyway, the only solid review here seems to be about the $2500.00 script. Anyone had enough experience with a lower cost solution to provide a solid review? Has anyone found anything easily extensible? All comments and reviews are appreciated. I'm signing this contract tonite!

I see some of you talking about ejobsitesoftware.com (aka Aynsoft) and I wanted to let all of you know to avoid them at all cost.

We recently had them do a job board for us and not only was it 5 months past due, but they have now stopped replying to our emails to get all of the bugs fixed.

I've summarized all of the issues we had with them on a site we started to let as many people know so you do not get burned like we did.

No I have not intensions of promoting any website. I'm just warning people about using aynsoft. The website (although I had to obfuscate becuase of the this forums spam prevention mechanisms), only describes all of the issues we had with aynsoft. For those who don't want to visit, I've posted the issues for convinience here:

We hired aynsoft to program a custom job board for us in 2006. We provided them with a very detailed set of specifications and they quoted a price and timeframe to complete this. They were FIVE months overdue and although we sent them their final payment, as soon as they received payment they stopped fixing the MANY bugs their software contains. Here are just a few reasons you should not hire aynsoft:

REASONS NOT TO HIRE AYNSOFT

1. They do not test their job board software. While they do program, they do not test their jobsite code and even when you tell them about bugs, it often takes them being told 2-5 times before they actually do anything about it, if at all. We spent MANY MANY hours testing their job site software only to find that even the features that come standard with their "off the shelf" offering do not work properly.
2. They are using open source PHP software and hacking it together with their own very sloppy and uncommented code.
3. Their English is VERY poor and often they can not understand even the simplest requests.
4. The list of features they list on their website is NOT indicative of what you actually get. You have to hound them to provide you the features and functionality that they tell you are part of the basic job board software.
5. Their cart/payment system is VERY poor and offers no functionality whatsoever.
6. They offer a template design service, but only do the homepage unless you insist the remainder of the site also match.
7. They try to take as many shortcuts as possible and frequently lie about work that has been completed.
8. They stopped replying to emails as soon as they received our final payment (which in hindsight we should have never sent)

Interesting thread but … still didn’t help me in taking a decision. I’m interested in a script which is very stable and can be easily configurable. It would be interesting if they will offer additional customization. I’m looking to a reasonable price ($1000). Basically right now I need to integrate only the employer module in my site but I’m also interested in a complete change if the script will work as expected.
Right now I’m looking at two scripts PHP-Jobsite and MojoJobs. Any feedback about these two or any other scripts that have been already tested will be greatly appreciated.

Hello All,

All you people talking about job scripts and its nice. Mr.jmottle is some what disoppointed with Aynsoft finally.

I agree ejobsitesoftware is some what best of the other job scripts but its too expensive, for normal medium scale companies may not choose because of pricing. At the same time finding free scripts also be not good b'caz free scripts allways will have limited features and ofcourse sometimes quality as well.

Softbiz coding is same for all their scripts and i don't think they support url_rewrite. i haven't tried yet. i just look at these features.

Hope we get a good cool script at good budget.

I would like to recommend Jamit Job Board, and webJobs by WebScribble

Unfortunately, webJobs script are encrypted using Zend Optimizer. You can fully modify the files because it is encrypted. The admin files are encrypted with it. You can't change the control panel's header, and design, etc.

That's based on my experience, I have purchased webJobs... :( I think Jamit Job Board is more better...

Hi all,

Just thought I would post an update about aynsoft (ejobsitesoftware.com)and some of the posts here.

Due to the site we put up http://www.job-board-software.info/ and the post on this forum we have received a lot of emails asking us for more information, which we are happy to provide given how poor of an experience we had.

On Friday June 3rd, we received an email from someone who we thought was someone considering using aynsoft. We replied, as we normally do, to answer questions about our experience. On June 9th, this same individual emailed us back from a yahoo email account claiming to be a representative of aynsoft, accusing us of many things ,not the least of which was a threat if we did not stop telling people about our experience and to take down our website. I quote: "Or no efforts will be spared to take this case to its logical conclusion."

We are now looking into someone else to program our job board as we continue to run into problems, which they refuse to fix depite promising lifetime support.

I should also like to reply to george456, who I can only assume is an aynsoft employee given how similar his post is to the threat email we received. We are not running on a shared server and in fact we have a dedicated database server. And running PHP and mySQL on windows is not a problem, as properly coded applications like vBulletin (a commercial forum software) for example are run on thousands of windows servers all over the world without problems. The problem is poorly coded applications.

We moved to a new server 2 weeks ago and we were down for 1 week due to the extremely poor coding practices they use. I had to hire a PHP developer to troubleshoot their sloppy code.

So, end of the day, who you choose to use to program your job baord is ultimately up to you, but I feel it my obligation to share the experience we had and continue to have with aynsoft.

As always, if you would like more information about our experience, please sent me an email on the site above.

Cheers,
Jeff

Wow, that really sucks Jeff. If they are refusing to give support, honestly I would file a claim with the BBB and definitely continue to pursue other options for job boards. I'm not sure if posting about these issues on your job board is a good idea or not. It is your right to talk about a bad experience you had on your own site, but it might give potential customers the wrong idea about how stable your site is.

I say if they keep being jerks about the whole situation, remind them of your legal rights. You can also have a lawyer send them a letter. It shows you're serious about your business, that you know your rights and won't be bullied by some company that can't even write software properly.

Hope that everything turns out great :)

I am setting up a jamit board now. The software is good. There is a lot that can be customized. I have spent 2 weeks customizing it. Their tech support has been good.

The Admin panel is set up to customize the text of all the pages. There must be hundreds of words/phrases/sentences that can be changed. Some have misspelled words that need to be corrected.

The problems I have had are trying to make the board do additional things that it was not designed for. This has been very challenging, but I am making progress.

I have customized all the pages with my own rollover navigation, banner and DIV sections.

It cost $200. If anyone needs a board and does not know how to customize, I could do this for you for a reasonable price. I can send a link to my board so you can see how well it can be customized. I have been so immersed in its pages/structure. I could customize a site quickly.

If it were not for my extra coding needs, I would give it an 8.5 out of 10 stars.

Hello,

I recently bought a script from combtail.com to use as a job posting service.

The instructions seemed easy enough for me to install however it did not work. The install.php file shows up blank!

Although I have no formal training, I am quick to catch on. I just got a server with Plesk running linux and php with zend is on there too.

Is there anyone who may know why this would happen?

:) Thank you!

I operate a new job board in Asia. I've found a lot of the off the shelf scripts back end and functionality is good, I myself purchased joblite in the UK. The problem is in the maintenance. In addition, since they are mostly provided by Indian developers, they are highly functional but lacking the web 2.0 feeling of modern websites and higher end design. They look very blocky and hard to read. Payment solutions are integrated but they just don't work when you need to customise your website to your needs. All the above will turn off a lot of jobseekers and employers. In the end we had to develop our own solution, which took one year!

Furthermore, the problem with off the shelf job boards are many do not have any annotation at all, resulting in minor bugs becoming major issues. Also, when you want to customize the script you run a high risk of breaking the code in other places. A lot of the key code is encoded further limiting your business development. In the end a lot of people waste their time and money.
You just need to look at the sample sites provided by these job board providers to see that few are successful in the long term.

I would not recommend purchasing job board software outright if you have a large budget, only as a temporary solution and to test the market. A hosted network solution is the best. If you do purchase due to budget constraints, you must budget for the expense of getting a good designer to work for you and make it into something impressive.

The job script is only the beginning, this area is very competitive, you've really got to stand out in both functionality and design to make it into a profitable enterprise.

wow this thread is still alive! Really, jamit job boards is the best job board software out there. You can customize it a lot. They are always upgrading to new versions. I think their latest version now is the one with templates. So that it will be much easier for you to customize it. ^_^

Yep Jamit Job Board seems to be taking over the lead, with its new release of 3.0+ they now support plug-ins, such as news(CMS), JobFair, and a lot more. If you are starting up a small job site (small in the sense not like naukri or monster), this is the best script. I have customised it to the best I could understand even changing the title, adding location field to it to increase keywords on title and a lot of things similar to it.

What's the code structure like? Is it written using classes(oops) and commented to make it easy to understand and customise? Why do you think that it may not serve the purpose for big sites... Not scalable... Not structured...problems with performance.. why??

Hello,

Yes you can get jobthread.

You can make on like this http://ajobinmanhattan.jobthread.com/ (you can host it on your own domain) but you would need to know some coding.

Or you can do one like this http://www.dottnetjobs.com/ which doesnt need coding. Its kind of empty, but you get the idea.

They share revenue. You get 50, they get 50. You could also set your job board to be for free.

Anybody have an idea what could be causing this? I haven't heard back from their support since submitting a ticket last night.

I have 3 Jamit sites running. If you compare to a Jobbex site ($4000 or around their) you will find that Jamit has all the same features as Jobbex, if not more. However... I am completely turned off by the templates that are available. I like the new template for webscribble, though.

I really wish Jamit would put as much effort into making a clean, attractive, and professional looking template as they do in making a great job board.

Now after saying that... I think jamit is the best job board on the market.

If you can make a clean, attractive, and professional looking template for Jamit I'd be interested in doing some business with you. Please PM me with a link to some examples if you are interested.

Hey Steve I think they are working on some additional new templates. That will be a better starting point for tweaking what they offer. Some other people are starting to do them now too. Look on their developer partner page and you will see a couple people that will do them for you.

I though Jobbex was more like 5 or 6 thousand?

Still working on my "406 error" :-(

Imran I might do that. The guy at Jamit is supposedly doing an install for me but it has been a while. I don't want my domain to be down much longer!

Although I might just delete everything and start over myself.

Imran thanks but I got it installed now. It was a CPanel issue.

The templates they have on their site....Do you just upload those files to your server and that's or do you need to do some other things first?

Its just like wordpress. Upload the template files to the ...include/themes directory. Go into the admin section and find the 'main config' page. go towards the bottom and there you can change templates.

I realized today that I was the one that broke the CSS in IE by making my logo too big. It still worked in FF but not IE.

Sorry for any misinformation...was just trying to be helpful.

A big thanks to Narcotix for pointing out this simple thing I messed up when I requested CSS help. And yes I did pay him.

Hello,

It is always at the top of the search results, and at the top of the homepage. They also come high lighted.

You can see two premium job posts here http://www.hiwages.com.au/ .

These guys have a custom job board script http://www.xpandedcareers.com

Its very comprehensive, you can test the demo section at http://demo.xpandedcareers.com

It comes complete with RSS feeds, email alerts, admin, employer and candidate registration and all the features you would expect on a top job site. Insutry and Geo-customization is also available. they offer hosted and full source code solutions.

The price is not cheap, but if your looking for a $200 job board script your going to end up with a $200 site. These guys are reletively unknown, but the script is one of the best is the market, hands down.

Job boards based purely on external content. I.E - feeds like the one you menioned in your example, have no long term profitability. If your looking to set something serious up, you need your own unique job content, you need a reason for viewers to come back to your site again and again, simply linking your audience to a 3rd party provider site is not going to cut it.

I happen to disagree with you!
Reason:
There are many Top job sites such as yahoo jobs, google jobs, recruit.net, bixee.com, jobsinworld.com, careerjet.com etc are doing really well, why shouldn't we try on something which is already working for others, a well planned project with good seo will surely give good returns.

Guys, I've seen you guys saying good things about Jamit so I went to their demo site.

While I like the fact the software has frequent upgrade and free upgrade for life, overall I was very disappointed with the demo site.

First of all, the out-of-box templates are ugly.

Secondly, the user registration form looks simple and weird to me. It doesn't have any drop down, which would just allow users to enter any wild information (for example, if entering country, they could enter USA, U.S.A, U.S., United States).

I am comparing Jamit and PHPJobs(http://www.scriptdemo.com/details.php?prod=phpjobsite). The latter seems to be a much better one. But I am hesitate because PHPJobs doesn't have any upgrade for a year and half.

Am I missing something with Jamit here?

I am looking for a software that allow users to choose multiple preferred job locations in foreign countries, and choose their language skills - can those be easily done in Jamit through customization?

Imran

You can easily customise the above mentioned things, even the user login, User Profile, Employer Profile Can be customised.
Provided with the updates and features it comes up with it, Its a + Buy.
Templates needs to be customised too, they are there for people to begin with the new custom template [ for reference].

There are some ppl who are doing commercial template development.
Choice is there one to choose from many options. It all depends on what one really needs.

I think it works better for a more localized site. If you want global I would choose something else.

I agree, the templates are the major drawback. More the fact that they are table layouts not CSS. That includes the developer custom templates available for purchase. They are all table based. The look of either could be changed it's the coding that is the important part IMO.

Hello,

I am looking to buy a job board soft ware. I have purchased a number of low priced scripts and have never found anything that is working properly or they are to simple.

I am not looking to spend a fortune but are not looking for a €39 script. Have read a lot of thoughts and ideas about some not so good companies so I have to say that it is hard to know who to trust.

I am looking for something that looks and works in a professional way and that can be bi-lingual.

2 good and nice looking sites are irishjobs.ie and jobs.ie

I appretiate any help and thoughts.

Hi all, does anyone else have any experience with Joblite? I really like the look, feel and price of it but would like to know more on customisation.

I was considering it for the job board I am establishing right now, but a poor implementation I saw changed my mind! The other point I want to mention is comparing the price and customization costs (if implemented by them) are way higher I guess, but I haven't made enough research on Joblite implementations to make a solid judgment.

My targeted audience is graduate students from the mentioned region that graduated from the US, and looking for jobs back home.

I need a very sophisticated job script to compete with current old players in the region I am targeting, to start from where they ended after years of development, or a high level of customization on either Jammit or Joblite (for now). Examples of such customization include:

1.Addition of an (expected graduation date) field in MySQL table and both CV and CVSearch forms + adding an option called (already graduated on) in the pull down menu of both forms that opens a new field if selected to include graduation date.

2.Addition of Google checkout gateway support.

3.Addition of a CV number (unique identifier) field in database, search forms, CV preview and all outputs (if joblite chosen).

4.Including a function to download CV in either (PDF) or (Doc) format as all competitors have this option! preferably with an option of adding a watermark of site logo to output that can be switched on or off by site admin.

5.Including an option when creating plans (with or without contact details) for demo accounts to be created for employers to have a feel of the site.

6.Including an option to moderate new employer accounts unless an invitation was sent to employer from site admin interface (requiring an approval of employer before they can access non demo plans if they select to upgrade).

7.An option in Admin interface to send invitations to new employers via e-mail with pre-selected plans which generates an e-mail with a link that opens the employer registration page automatically, and notifies site admin when invitations were used by employers.

8.Addition of a (my job folders) option in employer area, where employer could save specific job folders and save CVs in the folder, with an option to batch convert multiple CVs to PDF or word format from that folder.

9.Addition of an educational level required in Employer CVsearch form, containing Bachelor, master and PHD in pulldown menu.

10.Adding an option in Jobseeker search results form (employer section), where employer could click a checkbox in front of his selected CVs, and buttons are available to (move to my job folders, e-mail CVs to his registered e-mail in PDF or Word doc format).

11.Adding the possibility of sub-accounts under each employer that use the same points of the main employer account for posting jobs or viewing CVs, with control and statistics showing in the main account section, the sub accounts should have access levels controlled by main account (to post jobs or not for example) and also by the admin interface, the Admin should have access to eliminate or grant subaccount access to employers and should have an option for number of sub accounts in plan creation or by individual employer. Another important function is forwarding CVs from sub account to main account in a CV folder or to main account email.

These are the main customizations I require, others may have already developed similar customizations...Any suggestions or ideas? has anyone seen a jamit or joblite site with customization similar to the above mentioned?

Customisations in Jamit:
1: Yes can be done easily.
2: Can be implemented.
3: Can be implemented in Jamit.
4: Currently the Downloads are based on the file type uploaded [ doc, or PDF ] This you can again be done with modification to the code.
5: A Demo Account with full access might result into spam. it is better to provide a sperate installation with demo account. for a safer side.
6: New Employers can be moderated, Also new un subscribed members/employers posts can be moderated if the posts are free.
7: Not sure about this you should speak to Adam.
8: hmmmm Speak to Adam.
9: You can add this, this depends on what options you have using for search a category select is better.

I was where you guys are about 8 months ago. I searched and searched for a good job board script.

Jobberbase is too narrow, its for a niche board, and has a lot of code for the tiny amount of features.
Jamit is the most segmented code I've ever dealt with in my life. The tables thing is bad, but the work you have to put in, just to find the file where the function you want to edit is unbelievable.

Having found that there is no good free open source job board script I set out to code my own. I have used PHPMaker5 as the script tool, and if you'd like that file, I'll make it available as well.

But I began with what is the best database layout available. A database layout that was decided after years of working with job boards. Its still a beta app, but if you have the time to commit use this job board because the database is simple and better than any other: http://OsJobber.com

After reading this thread all the way back and doing some independent research, I have to say I'm becoming more and more interested in Jamit Job Board.

I'm very motivated to move forward; but, I'm not looking to run it without getting some customization done. I have some ideas for unique features that would mean adding a few new fields to the MySQL database and more to the script itself; but, I think the result would be a much more valuable site for users.

So here are my questions to anyone using Jamit or who do customization work for it:

1) Are you still feeling good about the Jamit Job Board script compared to others out there?

2) What other sites have you found out there that do Jamit templates and/or features customization?

3) How often is the software updated by Jamit and are they responsive to customer suggestions for requested features?

4) Any language barrier problems in dealing with Jamit?

5) Can anyone review their experiences with Jamit listed solution providers Nasthon or Skylight?

6) Why do the templates cost so much???

Thanks for reading and to those who take the time to answer. I really appreciate it and want to move forward with this quickly. One last question: after the investment, was it worth it and are you seeing some return?

Thanks,
Belltoons

My answers in red:

I have used Jamit successfully on two sites, but not without major customization.

1) Are you still feeling good about the Jamit Job Board script compared to others out there?

It is a nice base to start with and saves some time on the initial start up.

2) What other sites have you found out there that do Jamit templates and/or features customization?

No good ones besides the ones I've done.

3) How often is the software updated by Jamit and are they responsive to customer suggestions for requested features?

I have customized it so extensively, I wouldn't get an update from them. In the one instance where I asked a question, it got a fast response, but he was highly motivated to talk to me, because I work with large scale sites. So he had a money reason to answer quick.

4) Any language barrier problems in dealing with Jamit?

Not sure what you mean by this.

5) Can anyone review their experiences with Jamit listed solution providers Nasthon or Skylight?

No experience with them, I customize the board myself.

6) Why do the templates cost so much???

This is one of the major downsides to Jamit. Templating is horrendous. There are something like 30 or 40 files to customize, and even then there is a lot of look and feel stuff hard coded directly into functions throughout the hundreds of functionality files. So a true template system doesn't exist in Jamit. I have coded a custom solution which addresses most issues though for templating.

If you have a major website to develop, you will want to talk to me about this more directly. I do site maintenance, programming and design for over 20 job boards, including two major job boards. Jamit helps with having a starting point, so that you don't need to start from scratch, but thats about all its good for. It definitely doesn't meet any modern website standards though for rapid development.

Slickricky,

Thanks for taking the time and for a great answer, Ricky! I guess your reply begs the question, "So do you think that Jamit offers the best job board? From your standpoint, what's better out there if your intention is to customize some additional features, but you do want a polished looking template as well?"

If the answer is still Jamit, I'd also ask if you would be interested in some PHP and MySQL customization work?

I'd be happy to discuss with you offline.

Before you/any one ask for a suggestion regarding these scripts you should read the entire thread right from start to get an Idea about which Job script is better.
I/as always would recommend Jamit, I have been using Jamit Job board from a long time and its been quite good for me, I have reached a point where I would need some custom job script.

Jamit is really a good start up script also it will help lot of job boards targeting one particular niche, customisation is really easy, specially adding / removing form fields.
I have to say only the template system is bit bad considering the overall script its a best buy, whats more you get lifetime updates free and its costs little.

Did you do any customization to the base code? Why not include a link so that those interested (or looking for jobs) can take a look.

Any road bumps at all to implementing it? How long has it been up now and are you seeing traffic to the site? What kind of marketing or "special offers" were you doing to bring traffic to the site?

Favorite features? What made you decide to go for Easy?

Boy, I'm full of questions, aren't I? :D

I purchased Jamit just to get something up and running after looking at all the other software. The reason I chose it was because it was full featured in many ways and, despite being a little crude in the back end, it gets the full job done. There are many sites that use this software and it works. There is great support for it. It is also cheap.

I've looked at a few others. I've purchased a lot of software and in certain circumstances (especially from India) they frequently look good on the front end but is a total disaster on the back end. Half done patchwork, multiple places to edit, etc. At least the places I purchased from, when I did, had reasonably good support. Without the support, forums, or good example sites (that are unrelated to the company), I generally stay away from these packages - especially when they are high priced. While it might do a lot on the front end on the surface, it may be a nightmare investment.

EasyJobBoard - he does get back to you quickly. But my problem was that a good part of this software is encrypted and there are parts that are missing, at least there were to me, despite a very pretty interface. I can't remember exactly what it was but I realized I didn't care for the layout as it confused me a little and that it was lacking one or two major features that Jamit had.

So I purchased Jamit for somewhere along the lines of $200 or less, can't remember. Small risk, it works, and we'll see where to go from there.

I'll say again, I'd really like to see you guys include a link to your job boards once they are up and running; or, if you want some beta testing help pre-release.

I'll be happy to do so when mine is ready to go.

Another topic worth talking about is how you actively promote your board once it is up and running. How do you get the companies and the job seekers aware of your existence? Any of you go so far as to do a press release?

I got Jamit for a slight discount. The reports are true. Skinning is disastrous but I've got a nice looking site up. Nasthon.... wow. I'll just say that you're best off hiring someone for a few hundred dollars and get a nice, custom look.

The script itself has a lot of features but isn't really coded as cleanly as it should be. It works and requires the user to clean them up but it is powerful.

smartjobboard - nice guy but no established sites i can see at all. I'm not about to spend over $500 on that and Jamit got me further in the essential areas (e.g. how many people are going to put up video clips? Rate permanent jobs they have taken?) I'd have loved to use this script but it's way, way too much for me.

The others are either eye candy but not as well done as jamit is in covering a full ground of what people are REALLY looking for on a job site or are copy protected and closed source. The choices are pretty meager unfortunately and it is what it is. My site looks rather swift and we'll see where it goes.

I purchased easyjobportal last december and have been setting it up for the last couple of months. The solution is great, the layout is very clean and the admin on the backend is very easy to use, its actually the best one I found.

Unfortunately it has one big glitch and that is its support. There's a Ignatius Wong replying to emails, he is very friendly whenever he replies (if he ever does). However it takes weeks to get an answer from them, and very often the answer is something like "I look into it"... then silence again for weeks!... you will send another email as a reminder and you get something like "didn't I sent you the fix already?", It is very frustrating.

Maybe Ignatius is the only one from support. I wish they could run this company better (at the least to be professional) and care about their clients, because it is a very good solution.

slinky

Ignatius is a nice guy and the script is clean. I think it lacked resume posting or something else I can't remember. I also know it is encoded and that scared me away.

jobsoftpro/PG job site pro is one of those nickel-and-dime companies who would shrink wrap the application to your needs - doing a sweet talk (oh yeah, try chatting with them too). To confirm what I am saying, try checking out their product to the shopping cart and you will enter into a MAZE. You wanna pay in installments - they want $450 upfront, $400 in 30 days, script hosted on their site for a min of $9.99, etc, etc. By now, you would have known that it is expensive.

In the Admin demo of webJobs on webScribble.com, I did not see the option to create/edit/delete employers, jobseekers, jobs, resumes, letters, etc. It just does not give access to admins to edit these! There is no way to moderate these items (people or documents) inside admin's interface which is a great drawback of the software.

Right now, I'm evaluating Joobsbox (http://www.joobsbox.com). Though it is still new, Joobsbox is based on Zend framework, which makes it extensible, and it has built-in plugin architecture. That means the platform not only can work standalone, but having the MVC core makes it able to bridge into other external applications (such as Joomla) as well as add to its own functionality without core hacks.

I've been really scouring for open source GPL job boards. While Joobsbox doesn't have all the bells-and-whistles out of the box, with Zend as its frame I'd love to see what programmers could bend it into. :)

hello to everyone,

there were some questions about pg job site pro job board script here, i can share my experience and answer questions if there are any about it, i used this script to build a website for a client.

what i liked:
- it is possible to pay for the script by parts which was necessary for me.
- the script includes all the necessary features so I had just to customize some minor things for my client's needs
- useful addons for sending newsletters, putting banners on the site and providing online courses for job seekers.

what i didn't like:
- it took a while for support team representatives sometimes to find answers to my questions, but in general i like that i can enter their live chat anytime and get assistance, there was always someone to talk to.
if there were any issues, they were fixed in a timely manner

my general opinion: i liked the script and service provided. would definitely recommend it.
