DomainLoot

are del.icio.us links useful or helpful in any way?

meaning: do search engines see/count these links in any way?

example:

www.del.icio.us / somememberhere

does this person's bookmarks getted crawled/indexed?

are those "tags" - another form of online bookmarks?

thanks for assisting the big NOOB / B**B :)

I don't think so, I think del.icio.us uses nofollow.

del.icio.us is using <meta name="robots" content="noarchive,nofollow,noindex"/> in their meta tag , this means "link from this site will not help you about seo, pr or serp result" . it will bring hit , if you are lucky .

in my opinion , dont use it

I'm not sure I would avoid it, I retain 'some' traffic from delicious bookmarks. I don't think it helps in any SEO way, but traffic is traffic and it's free. ;)

as everyone says, they use the nofollow attribute.

they can bring you traffic tho, I have sites that get 100's of visits a week from delicious links ;)

forgot to ask:

is there a way for del.icio.us "members" to know how much traffic their bookmarks get?

THANKS AGAIN

I can see in my website stats - awstats

i understand. :)

but, is it possible for the person WITH the del.icio.us "page" to tell what kind of traffic they get?

example:

is this possible?

someone says > i can show that i get over 100 hits a day at my del.icio.us bookmarks.

or over 1000, etc.

in other words, a busy del.icio.us bookmark shoud be worth more than one that gets no traffic - in theory.

anyone know?

THANKS again,

Forsh

I get tons of hits from my delicious bookmarks, sooooo I'd say it isn't useless. Anyone looking to exchange bookmarks PM me please. (Check my sig)

ita a + having that in your articles you are going to have people bookmarking some of ur articles it only take you a min to set it up but it keeps ur visitors happy. at least that's what i have notices. Some of my users requested it before i added the bookmarking tool on my sites so people do want it.

Personally I don't get too much traffic from delicio. I think perhaps I got in too late.

the story has to be unique if its a duplicate your most likely too late and you won’t get anything from it.

I think the fact that yahoo purchased delicious means more than people think.

I think search engines will include bookmark counts in their algos at some point (if they don't already).

Completely agree. It's hard to imagine why Yahoo! isn't (or couldn't) datamine de.licio.us to discover pages they've somehow missed, associate keywords with pages, deduce a page's popularity/relevance, etc.

Also, for blogs like mine, de.licio.us can deliver significant amounts of high quality traffic. Does anyone have insight into the basic algorithm that they're using to rank pages in their SERP's? It's not just a ranking based on the number of bookmarks ... there must be more to their "secret sauce". ;)

Isn't it simply that the links are organized by the last time someone bookmarked them under that tag?

I add all my own sites to del.icio.us. Every little bit of traffic helps right? It won't help with SEO though I don't think.

For anyone interested in development and marketing, here is my page:

If you go to gmail.com right now you'll see a blurb on personalized search.

"When you're signed in to Google Accounts, you'll now get more relevant, useful search results, recommendations and other personalized features. For example, if you use Google Bookmarks or Google Search History, you'll get more targeted web search results and recommendations for videos or gadgets. You can easily access these recommendations by adding the "Interesting Items" gadget directly to your personalized homepage."

You can use this social bookmarking site for spreading the name of your site. Tag your site, if it is useful visitors will save it and if you are lucky then your site can be shown in the popular sites category. Means huge amount of traffic.

in my opinion , dont use it

It uses a nofollow attribute but still you can use it for traffic purposes and link baiting (i guess) as long as you have a site with great and useful content...
You don't want to avoid anything that might help you...
