help with adwords, any guidance please!

Hi to everyone, I am a newbie as far as adwords is concerned. I am trying to understand what is the best way to go about using adwords. I understand the mechanics of it. But I would like to obtain some more information to make sure that I am on the right track.

Could you please recommend books, sites worth looking at?

Pick non-competitive keywords, such as mispellings of your target keywords. Some people use up to 50 keywords to place their adwords on and forget about the top priced words. In that way they get lots more traffic without breaking there marketing budget.

I will try... however, I was trying to grasp a good method to work out keywords and the rest. Of course I have used Digital Point tools (by the way congratulations, they are just great) but I am getting a bit confused, for instance, when I have a keyword which is "at risk", what should I do? pay more?... my budget is limited...(I guess like everyone's budget...)

Usually at risk means your click thru rate isn't that great and you need to take a look at your ad, possibly rewording it. At first I found the disabling of my ads annoying but it is there to help you. Thats the nice thing about adwords. Ads with lower bids but better ctr's can get better placement than crappy written ads that have higher bids. Sometimes just changing a word or two can have a significant impact on your ctr. But back to what you asked, no throwing more money at it won't make it not at risk. Try tweaking your ad.

Correct! Try writing up to 5 different versions of the same ad. Google will rotate them. After a couple of weeks history throw away the two ads with the lowest CTR and write two more.

Repeat this process every few weeks and you will eventually have the best working ads. And you will learn a lot about writing brief ads that work for this and other keywords.
