I'm trying to helping the owner of this site: http://zindy.zone.dk to get her hosting fees covered with AdSense.
As you can proberly see, there site wasn't designed with adsense or any other advertising in mind, and the few existing ones have just been slapped on where they didn't obstruct the design too much.
So far the most successfull page has been http://zindy.zone.dk/html/drawings/newest.htm which has a nice CTR, the other ads on the index and the main drawings page seem to be pretty much ignored.
The site should have some potential, currently earnings are at about $13 a day, while this month there has been 1.9 million pages served, 189.698 unique visits (those are webserver statistics, not all of those pages have ads on them ofcouse).
I'm thinking some sort of way of including adsense on all the pages in a uniform way would proberly help, but any thoughts or comments are welcome.
Best regards,
Brian

well , I think your style is not perfect but good as an artist , any way you can design a new layout with a nice space on the bottom or on the side to put your ad there ..
just like I did here .

Thanks, I'm going to suggest a site redesign to her, I understand that she doesn't want it too cluttered with ads, but I'm thinking with a redesign it'll actually look better than now where they are mostly just slapped on randomly.

You can cover your hosting costs, by having ur site on my server for free :)
Just give a backlink! thats enough;)
About the adsense good content good design and good traffic is the only way you can make money even if your design is not so good, if you get a handsome amount of traffic you will earn handfull of $$ from AS.

If you want the ads to be noticed I'd suggest using a more horizontal layout and placing them under the nav bar. Then push the content down a little bit. It won't harm the design much if you find some complementary colours that stand out but don't conflict with the site. Try it out and if she doesn't like it, go back to what you have now.

Even though the site uses about 120GB of bandwith a month? I currently rent a dedicated server for $69 a month and that is covered now, but more wants more :)
nitpick I think I'll try and add a banner like you suggested while she is away, then if it works good, I can proberly convice her with the ammount made, and if not, I can remove it again :)

Expand horizontally (780 pix) and place adsense above the fold.

Heh no, I wish.
It's a girl I live with, I host the site and help her with the technical stuff.
I've talked to her about a redesign where the horizontal ads will fit better, but she is still a little reluctant. I can understand that though, every page is made in dreamweaver, no functions or modules etc, so it's a huge task to redesign it.
I do belive the site has enormous potential though, it gets tons of traffic from google image seach - try e.g. to seach for "sad" in images, and her drawing is the first result. Search for Christina Aguilera and she'll have drawings on the first page, same with lots of other celebrities.

Adsense was difficult to find. Maybe place a horizontal add higher up and place pics above or next to it.
