View Full Version : Are Yahoo Answers spidered?

Upon learning that Yahoo Answers are an authority site, I started posting answers to questions where I could use one of my webpages as a "source," thus planting a link.

I started this about a month ago, and my SEO software still shows no backlinks from Yahoo Answers, not even a "no follow" link.

Does anyone know what is going on here?

They are spidered (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fanswers.yahoo.com%2F&btnG=Search&meta=).

Links are nofollow though.

They may hold value for traffic building if you are quite active, though.

Oh...darn...didn't know they were "nofollow". You mean I answered all those questions for nothing?!?

you didn't answer them for nothing because Yahoo answers can bring you some decent traffic if the link you post is relevant.

It will definitely bring in traffic even if they are nofollow. Whenever someone visits that page and see that your website was used as a best answer, you easily gained a new visitor.

almost all public forums or discussion areas use nofollow. Try getting the search status firefox extension so you'll get a pink box over the links.

Don't use the same message over and over again on Yahoo Answers.. you'll get banned for spamming. Saw it happen to some people.

If you have questions, you write them

To answer my own question: I just found out the links are no-follow through some software I am using. (I just realized I was analyzing backlinks for the wrong page - that's why it was showing no links at all from Yahoo Answers). In one month I think I have gotten one visitor through a Yahoo Answer. Not worth my time.
