$100 ($50 dollars for logo + a $50 bonus for somethig outstanding)

Hey guys I am holding a contest for a logo for a new free hosting site I am trying to get finalized. As you can see in my sig I have been running an image hosting script while I get more features up for the site.

Well everything is almost complete, but I am still looking for a logo as I am too busy with the new design itself.

Here's the contest details:
The logo is for host-ed
I want a logo to resemble something similar to skypes.
It needs to follow web 2.0 design style (http://www.vasdekis.com/web-20/is-this-a-web-20-design-26-characteristics-to-look-for.html)
Here's an example of something I really like and would like to have my logo based on it: http://xufe.com/
logo must be either blue or green (green perferably)
xufe's logo has everything I need. It is green and follows a web 2.0 design style.

I would like the logos to be submitted within 4 days of this post. A decision will be made within a couple days after that unless there's something that really stands out. Please get your etries in soon as I may choose to end the contest early if there is an exceptionaly good logo and prize money will be doubled.

Prize money: $50
bonus $50 for ending the contest early and/or getting in an exceptionally good logo entry

i have a suggestion on having some little radio signal marks above the h like i used to have when I made the logo myself.

Skyblue: I think if you were using someone else's material, the CH should probably be informed aswell, it would make any sense if i sent you PM's since the CH wouldn't know if you were a ripper or not. I hope you don't find this comment offensive though, cos that's absolutely not what i meant.

Could have just asked me. hehe. The exact font name I used for the letters 'osted' of the design I did is called Arial Rounded MT Bold. However, the letter "H" is something I personally designed just to be different. ;)

Ok, sure i will remove it. Sorry. But you know, it's not unique in your logo either, you can find it it atleast 100 other logo's aswell, since it is made out of two rounded rectangles and a stroke.

.Cyanide: i like the new attempts and even the clouds you incorperated. Some things that make your design stand out is the mirror effect at the bottom of the logo which is something I like and also like the style of the marks above the H.

CU_Designs: what i like about your design is the added origninality, and good use of colors. The colors are ideal to what I am looking for the new web site style. something that you could improve on the desing would be to add a minimal reflection of the logo.

so far it is between these two designs that I will be choosing. I will close contest entries by tonight. Hopefully a few more people will give it a try.

I was really hoping to see some more originality and use of illustrator to create something original and not just fonts with text effects

I've deleted my other posts to sum it up in one. I've made this public, asterix, because my design was ripped from publicly and still has not been removed by the ripper even after the person said he/she would remove it. Also, I've been publicly and wrongfully accused by Cyanide of using something found in other logos.

Cyanide, you wanted to know the name of the font I used. And since the font of the letters 'osted' isn't something I own rights to I gave you the name of that font for you to find it online. Besides the arial font isn't my concept, rather just a part of it. I also stated that the 'h' in my design was specifically designed by me. No matter how simple it is, it was designed by me not found in any other logo as you in your later posts claimed it is. Now I can call your bluff and ask you where these other 100s are since you were bold enough to say my exact 'h' is found elsewhere, thus accusing me of ripping when I have not. You know as well as I do that my 'h' is not found anywhere else, you just wish you came up with it first (what some people would call "hating" on someone's design). And yes I did use 2 rounded rectangles and one regular rectangle in creating it. But so what, I make a lot of graphics using basic shapes. And some graphics I create without using basic shapes. What designer doesn't use basic shapes or create their own? It doesn't make my work or theirs any less unique unless like you they've ripped it from another designer.

The 'h' is the heart of my concept, which is why I decided to create my own 'h' keeping it rounded for a reason. But I never gave you permission to use the 'h' I designed. I see you even ripped how I positioned it. There's a reason for that, too, why I positioned it it the way that I did.

Give yourself a little more credit and respect and be different. It's not hard. Now if you want to start building a reputation of being one who rips designs then that's your own business. In the meantime, I'd appreciate it if you removed my design from yours as quick as you ripped it. Thanks.

I don't feel like reading an essay right now, but you know, there is often text in a logo, so you might think fonts and logos are kind of...the same...And by the way, i can't believe you're taking it so seriously, especially not since i changed my logo as you wished.

You don't get it. You ripped part of my style. Thanks for loving how I do things but it doesn't excuse you from ripping my style. Look at your design and tell me what's still the same? Then you had the nerve to accuse me of not being unique. So yes I am taking this seriously. I'm calling your bluff just as boldy as your accusation. You said there are logos with my exact 'h' in it. Then you stated there are fonts with my exact 'h' in it. Stop being vague and provide direct links to where. What i said/ment was: There are loads of texts in logos that are rounded(like yours) and have a stroke in the middle, loads of different variations. I don't know if the reason why you won't believe me is because you thought i had a font which was your logo up to 100% i can only find ones that are up to 90% of it. PM me back if you still want the fonts for it, and/or an apologize.

Thanks. The character is actually a little alien I created some months ago when I was bored. So I thought it could be used to kind of represent "not ordinary." And showing he's the host (as in the host of a gathering or something) and the shades meaning cool. So in all not ordinary but yet still a cool host. He's stepping on a 'step' going up symbolizing the word "uploading" and the marks is to bring emphasis to that. I guess I could have made it a darker color to be able to see more. haha. Anyway, worth a shot to at least present the idea to you. Thanks for the comments. :)
