50$ Logo Contest for Band Website

Hi Guys,


I am in need of an improved logo for the SOMANGO band. You can have a look at the band’s website at: www.somango.com

The proportions of the size should be as follows: heigth : width: approx. 1 : 7,3 (for example 500:3650)
It should be a rather high pixel amount, because it also might be used for a large hard copy banner.

It should include the text:

"SOMANGO –โซแมงโก”
The second word is SOMANGO in Thai letters (maybe you need to download Thai fonts). They should be a bit smaller then the latin letters. Both words should be incorporated in the same logo.

The new logo should not be like the one I use now. Use your imagination and surprise me, then the 50$ (via paypal) will be yours. Only logos will win that are really satisfying and fit to the band. The right is reserved not to choose a winner if no logo meets expectations, but as I know you guys there will be satisfaction;).

Please post all your designs until 22.01.07, then the winner will be announced. I need the logo in photoshop format.

I just got some feedback from the bandleader. He said he likes luvlee's logo the most. He will discuss all the logos with his band tonight, so there will be more feedback again tomorrow. He also likes sandeep's logo but would like to have the pics of the guys in a more abstract way. Not a real pic but more like a drawing or something. I am sure you guys can work something out. More tomorrow...

Sorry for coming back to you so late, but I was in bed with a pretty nasty cold. Here are the comments from the band:


"First of all, thank you very much for your efforts.

And here are the honest and open comments of the band members:

animator: "sorry,to be honest, but this is nothing special or unique or creative at all"


currenz: "quite nice, but looks like the logo of a local cover band. Do not need so many instruments in the LOGO - should look more unique and special"

skyblue webteam:

Sandeepramje: " quite nice, but too many pics. if there an image of us, then it would be better if it was something like an abstract drawing or a caricature or something like that"

to luvlee:" too heavy metal and hardrock like, too serious. does not fit to us that much. We play Thai rock and pop music, and do not take ourselves too serious either..., some of us did not like that guitar either. So finally it should be something completely different than this"

Seems they have pretty high expectations. I hope you can fullfill them. As I was sick for 2 days we will extend the deadline until 24.01.07.

Sorry but I do not have any comments for #19 and #20 from the band yet.

Comment for "Sandeepramje":

"Nice banner! We particularly like the letters of SOMANGO and the nice yellow-black background.

We are quite interested in it, but we have still some things to suggest:

- take the pic of us out
- put the lettering in the middle and this background, which you now have on the right side (next to our pic), should be perhaps all over
- The Latin lettering should be maybe a little bit wider (stretched horizontally a bit) and maybe also a bit larger
- the Thai letters should be a bit smaller and they should be below the Latin letters
- please no apostrophies at the Thai letters

Ok Guys, sorry for taking so long to give feedback but the bandleader always has to wait to show the designs to the band members. We will extend the deadline for 3 more days, this should be sufficient to be able to find a winner;).

Here the new comments:

istvan und loserXP: sorry for the delay.
# 19 and 20: "thanks for your tries, but we are not likely to take one of these, because we much more tend to take that one of another bidder, which we are quite interested in.
# 19: nice try, but not really what we want.sorry."
# 20: sorry, frankly:not special at all. not that much creative.

sandee P: #28 " could you please try to make the same effects on the thai lettering as you have on the latin lettering? and, as said before, try to take the pic of us out or make it not that clear or more cartoon like (for ex.: only seeing the contours or outlines of us). Maybe make two tries to compare: for one try " take the four guys out" and for another try "leave them, but make them more like a cartoon and/or show only the outlines/contours/silhouttes of them. And then we would like to compare. Thank you.

Luvlee: Nice try. However, the latin lettering should be a bit clearer, more easy to read. Beside that, I have to ask the band members about this try.

# 17: interesting background, but the lettering is nothing special at all and too small. beside that, i have to ask the other band members for further comments. thanks you.
