I knew of a company that sold cheap domains, but I've forgotten what they are called.

You can try:
http://domains.aplus.net/main.html
Domains are $6.95/year. I use them and have been happy.

$4.95 at www.netfirms.com but you can't use virtual nameservers.

I also use them. Never had any major issues. It's only buggy cuz they're upgrading their site and they're not with enom naymore.

Thanks,

Did you mean that you'll only look at the prices but not services/support?

Froggy Domains offer $6.95 .COMs and .US as well as $4.75 .INFO, $5.99 .BIZ, $14.99 .MOBIs and much more.

I'd say we are VERY competitive and free TOP NOTCH customer support 24x7 for you as well. We're in business to stay in business. Check us out!

As i said many times, the domain is the basic part of your website
You can change webhosts every day but if you loose your domain you loose them all

If you want to register the names just to see the process or play with them, choose any registrar you want. If not choose reliable names without 1000s negative reviews like registerfly

domainsite, namecheap ... (i don't say godaddy, i don't like them a lot but they are reputable ok)

namecheap for people not already aware will offer a selection to keep your names to their old enom-reseller account or move them to their new system they're preparing. These systems will co-exist

Ipower is also good and price reasonable.
Also Domainsarefree.com and globat.com are good.
You may also try at crucialwebhost where domains are 4.99.

ivnj, registerfly has one of the worst reputations in this business. I would STRONGLY recommend never using them. I've had domains I own get sold through their marketplace because the former owner had listed them before I got ownership. That's just one example of how bad they really are. You can find hundreds of not thousands more if you just search popular hosting/domain forums.

I've registered about 200 domains or so. The registrars I use the most are:

DomainSite - $6.99 for .com's
GoDaddy - always have coupons available so you should never pay more than $7.20 for a .com.

If you plan on reselling the domain - make sure the registrar has system to allow for free pushes.
