Hi,

I am currently participating in a SEO contest, and have ranked #1 in Yahoo in December.

Unfortunately I have dropped to the position #2, or #3 now, and am looking for some key advice, and answers to my questions. (The site's above me are both the same, so I rank myself second for the contest.)

1) How many times/month does Yahoo change its' rankings? Ie: Can I still become #1?

2) What does Yahoo like on short terms? My site doesn't really have back links.

3) My domain forwards to a menu item in another domain. Is it wise to move the page for the contest to the contest related domain (which is the one that is indexed by Yahoo), or should I just leave it as it is, since the pages on the other domain all refer to the other domain? in the footer.

- The phrase: cpayscom2 online casino
- The contest related domain: http://www.cpayscom2-online-casino.org
- Domain forwarding: http://www.pokerforfree.org/en/cpayscom2_online_casino/

Hopefully some of you take the time to help me out. I am planning to donate 50% of the prize money to WarChild, so your help is very much appreciated!

Thanks,

Giorgio

Maybe bloglines and spaces are trusted which was the reason for their current rank.,

Try creating a blog in blogspot, wordpress, spaces, yahoo 360, (frequently updated with content, i mean spam contest related content)
Html pages at: port5.com
and give a link to your site from these pages.,

Also be sure that you dont do a 302 redirect from cpayscom2-online-casino.org to the poker... domain

Yahoo have small changes every day. and have some big changes a long term.so you may be #1 tomorrow if you add some backlinks.

Hmm,

So the back links are important. It's gonna be hard though, because it's a short matter of time.

Perhaps I can offer everybody who's willing to link to me a free back link coming from a page that might win the contest. Ie, if I wins then that particular page will definitely get a lot of traffic :P

Anyway, thx for the help.

PS: If I donate $500, it means I will still get $500. I think everybody who goes for this prize should at least donate something. I already decided this right at the start of this contest, so it could have been even 5 grand. :D

Peace,

Giorgio

For me, posts like these or forums with signatures help in the short term for your keywords in Yahoo.

After talking to the contest director (through someone else) I discovered that domain forwarding is not allowed.

What I did is make a static copy of the whole page and place it on the right domain, not using a 302 redirect.

It now qualifies, but there's another problem. My site still ranks first in Yahoo, and perhaps it will still in 19 days when the contest ends, but... the problem is that they take look at the cached copy for it to win.

Will the cache be replaced in 19 days? Or should I considder this a lesson for next time.

Hopefully someone can point me to some lecture about this since I had a hard time finding it myself.

Peace,

Giorgio
