I've been trying to optimize everything as best as I can to get the best possible quality score and so far my campaign is at 0.05 per click (I get a large volume of clicks in a short period of time). It would be really great if there was anything I could do to reduce this number, I've tried tons of things, supposedly if my quality score is high enough I should be able to get 0.01 clicks because that is the minimum bid.

if you get much clicks when bidding 0.05/click for a keyword then lowering your bid will save some money for u and also will give less clicks/traffic

The factor that everyone forgets is TIME.

It takes time to get your bids down.

Agree with you on tbis one. But it gets pretty annoying to have to wait. I thought this is the internet, and that means NO MORE WAITING. lol.

We ran an AdWords campaign here in the UK for a client who was a 'new' celebrity about to appear on TV.

When there was nobody else bidding on that keyterm, we were consistently getting 1p clicks. As soon as a second person started bidding on that keyterm the cost immediately jumped to 5p per click, even though we had build up a great quality score and had a 20%+ CTR.

Make of that what you will.

GOOGLE IS EVIL.

I'm sorry to disappoint you futures_Equity but no matter how high your quality score or however long you wait I'm highly skeptic that you'll ever reach 1 cent clicks. From my experience, if a keyword generates a certain amount of traffic google will not drop the minimum bid.

As my esteemed colleague Taulath mentioned, you may purchase a keyword for cheap but once it starts generating traffic, Google will start milking you for it. On top of that, if you use conversion tracking, Google tends to raise your minimum bid after the first conversion.

You need more experience - I'm experimenting with 1 cent clicks and they are possible, very possible.

That is not at all true. Maybe that happened to you a couple times but I have thousands of ad groups that beg to differ.

There is only a few ways to get 1 cents clicks.... Foreign traffic or include in content..... I have yet to be able to get .01 clicks for US only and only SE target.

Have you encounterd words that initally required a minimum bid of ~$.15 and you managed to decrease the bid to .01 cent using optimization? I'm talking about words with serious traffic (over 1000 impressions per day).

Yes, I've started off with words that cost $.1 and have managed to decrease their cost to about $.04 but not to $.01. Has anyone been able to do this consistently? If so pray tell how you did it (please be as detailed as possible).

Become primary advertiser with 30K+ monthly budget.
You'll get 1-3 places with 5-10c per click on keywords regular advertisers bidding around dollar. Most amazing thing you can bid on virtually any keyword regardless quality score and relevance.

Is this possible with adwords? I think you're speaking about Overture.
