Is there a method or priority to the order in which links are seen in backlink checkers, or is it random?

Yahoo list them in order of their importance ;)

thanks for your answers.

ok so then if understand correctly then Yahoo and MSN list the strongest link first and the weakest link last, so i should keep my top links, and go after my competition's top links for my backlinks.
