Can you use Google API for Google News?

I was wondering if it is OK, or even possible to use the Google API to query news.google.com and get info from their results?

Does anyone know about this, or tried it? I can't find it in the FAQ for the Google API.

Thanks
- Sean

No, you can't.

You probably do have access to the same news feeds Google does however. You put them together however you would like.

No, you can't.
Do you think it is because it's news.google.com or because it's still in Beta?
maybe they will open it up later?

Because it's a web search API... you are limited to the things you can do from the search box on www.google.com. There are lots of things I wish it would also do... news, newsgroups, PageRank queries, etc.

No idea if they will open it up to other things later or not...

it is doable without using API. i have never reached the limit yet, as i cache the results locally.

It would be great if they opened up the API though. News and images instantly come to mind, as something that would be useful for my purposes.
