So why wouldn't google use this idea.
I'm sure paypal will fall if google does this.

and suing too ;) I think Google has already started this idea with Google Checkout. I bet we'll see something like PayPal in the next few years.

I dont. I think the market is still open for micro payments of less than $20. If google can charge a lower fee, then many businesses selling goods that are on a very small markup (webhosting?), then we could see a switch to gpay.

Yup, paypals too solidly established as the standard to suffer terribly from it. a little copetition, sure, but not anything significant, IMO.

I have been using Google Checkout for over a month and I love it. It's a bit slower than PayPal but funds are deposited directly into my bank acccount which I like (I don't have to transfer from PayPal). I also like that they are not charging any fees for the next year.

Oh yea, PayPal has plenty to worry about....this is easier to integrate into your websites, it's cheaper than PayPal, it has the Google name behind it and you don't have the idiots at Ebay to ruin it.
