View Full Version : Appearing everytime in Adwords

Hi all,
This is my first post in the forum and would just like to say hi to everyone and wondered if you could help me out. I currently use google adwords and since I started it has increased traffic and sales to my site in the last couple of months. My questions is that when I do a search on google for an item relavant to my site and then click seach on google say 10 times, my advert will appear about 4 times in the adwords. Where as my competitors seem to appear everytime. I just wondered what kind of daily budet etc I should be aiming for or what I should change to appear everytime?

I think it would really depend on the competition for the words you are using. I think the highest is $50.

You can see in AdWords what you recommended budget is. It's not 100% accurate but it is worth using IMO.

1. what is the average position of your ad?

-if it's something like 8.5 your ad apears on page 2

2. positioning and frequency is also influenced by CTR ...

3. if your daily budged is not enough AD automatically determines best frequency

imp / ctr x maxbid(yours) x 2.5 works for me to have at least a ceiling

Unless you are on a tight budget.. Just put it redicilously high. Google thinks you are eager to spend so it will eagerly take your cash and display you all the time.. And chances are you will be in the top blue bar result more too.

Google tries to distribute your ad impressions evenly over the 24 hour day. To do this, they have to estimate the number of impressions they can show every hour that (based upon your CTR) will hit close to your daily budget. As your CTR rises, you should adjust your daily budget higher if you want to maintain complete visibility.

You can also try limiting distribution to just Google (ie. turn off distribution to the content/AdSense network) to keep your budget available for Google search results.

According to "AdWordsRep" on SEW, the formula for appearing "inline" or over the regular search results as opposed to on the sidebar is weighted heavily on CTR. Your ad needs to appear in either of the top 2 positions, have been reviewed and approved by an AdWords rep, and meet a minimum threshold for CTR and revenue.

Thanks for all the replies, What it is I sell work boots and have 20 keyword variations of this. Should I just have work boots as my keywords and nothing else as I get the highest CTR on this "work boots", but it does seem to be shown all that often as less popular key words.

Still learning about key words.

CTR is not the metric that you should be using to measure PPC campaigns. You should be tracking ROI for the conversions/cost of each campaign. A low CTR campaign may be providing much greater ROI than a high CTR campaign. Where does it make more sense to spend your money?

Jus to add to what Bernard has been saying, according to the Google adwords FAQ (see 'Why aren't my ads showing') if your daily budget is below Google's recommended budgt then your ads will not be shown constantly and will be spaced throughout the day so that your beudgt is met (or there abouts). So I'd recommend seeing what Google recommend your budget to be and try upping your current budget to mathc it.

I've found that about 90% of my profit and traffic come from 10% of adwords keywords. Use the smaller traffic ones but make sure they're all good ROI, as bernard said
