I just read about this. Want to know more about a specific location? Dive right in -- Google Earth (http://earth.google.com/) combines satellite imagery, maps and the power of Google Search to put the world’s geographic information at your fingertips. I tried it myself and it seems it is integrated with google's local search. Seems like a nice tool but im a none US citizen so for me there is no use. I just checked the colussuem in Rome. :)

I used that back when it was still Keyhole's software. Pretty cool. I orientated myself with the Las Vegas street plan prior to going there to prevent getting lost in a drunken state. It served me well.

I've been in the Colosseum in Rome. Now that's an amazing place. I'd love to go back in time and sit in a sell-out Colosseum watching navy battles or gladiators knock eachother out.

How do you do with google earth?

I'm still trying to figure out the blessings but haven't decided for how to use it in connection with my site.

Anyone some exiting ideas about?

oh my gosh, this is the most incedible thing I have ever seen. I run a travel business. I can speak to my clients about a place while I am looking at it. Or if they are lost I can tell them where to go! If I didnt know better I would say Google Earth is a gift from God...

Do you mean a live broadcast?
Hey that would be fun though the NSA and CIA are using it, I don't think its going to be for the public.;)

I downloaded it yesterday and it is pretty cool - varying degrees of detail though depending on country and area of country - but brilliant none the less!

I want this thing and then install Google Earth Plus (the version with GPS support) on it. That would be bad ass.

It would be great to have this. But I can already see the future:

people will check their emails while driving and chat in chat rooms. Maybe it needs to be voice activated and I believe it will be.

I wouldn't doubt every vehicle having something like that built in in about 20 years.

I've been playing with it for the last few days... The images are a few years old. I zoomed in on my house, I can see my wife's Jeep in the driveway, I sold that in 2003, and theres no pool in my backyard, which I installed the same year, so the images (at least of my area) are from 2003 or earlier.

Very cool, though. I zoomed in on Englishtown Raceway Park (New Jersey), and there's a few people in the parking lot and two cars on the starting line!

There are always updates and even says the exact date and the older version are archieved, you can even have a look at those archieves. You have to adjust your layers.

hi,

Presently google earth's scope is very limited even though Product is very good but limited to few countries.
It is under development stage so that world's community would be able to use it.
I am waiting when it will mapp my country in it....

They have added Ireland and I have a perfect use for it on one of my sites. I want to display the saved tour as a box on my site and have it run when someone visits.

Their file format is obviously proprietory so I can't figure out how to get it to play without having to download the software.

Has anyone succefully converted it as a mpeg or something similar?

I think this functions only with earth-pro upwards.
