View Full Version : Anyone got ANY tips on getting unbanned
Sven

It's over a year. I've sent countless emails, my RA's for a trusted feed are denied.
Yahoo tell me i'm breaking the rules but not which rules! I'm 100% white hat but doing something wrong?
Anyone shed ANY light? Cos I give up. :(

No answers, just questions:
Unbanned from what, exactly?
What are "RA"'s?
What is a "trusted feed"?

I'm pm it, with your permission. Rather not have it in a public forum.

Inktomi have banned me, inktomi control the listings for Yahoo, MSN and countless other large search engines.
You can learn answers to the other two questions from google, or from here www.positiontech.com :)
Basically a trusted feed gets you in inktomi but you pay for every click (in the natural listings.)

Your going to have to be more specific
Your trusted feed is just a PPC from positiontech.

RA is what positiontech call it. I beleive it stands for a "request authorisation" [for the trusted feed to go agead] but yahoo decline it because im not conforming their their guidelines.
The guidelines are sketchy and any site could be considered in breach in my opinion! So it doesn't help

Sorry, wont give urls out in public forums :(
I'll pm it fine, just not in the public light.
However, part 2 to my story is thus:
Tuesday duplicated all my old banned content to a brand new domain. Used
digital points banner exchange service to get some quick links
(http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/ad-network/?signup=122 if it helps I have
a weight of 11,288)
I'm running _only_ three keywords from this weighted account.
Today I look on Yahoo to find I have number1 for the biggest keyword! :D

No, not really. You have a website that you want to be found yet you won't post the url. Sounds pretty fishy to me. If you want help, then give us all the info, otherwise quit crying about it cuz we have no idea what you're talking about.

Actually, sometimes NOT posting a url to a forum is a smart thing.
Ask Foxy about weber bbqs... It seems like dp forums is there to stay!
Many people have had forum posts out rank there own website in the search results simply due to posting the link in the forum.

I wish this weren't true.... I hate you Shawn (j/k :))
I get outposted all the time by this freaking forum. I don't really care though, this is a great forum. It is those 'shady' ones you have to watch out for....

How do I know your not one of my competitors?
Slim chance in my opinion, but the chance exists. That aside I don't want one of my competitors searching the web for my domain name, finding this forum and finding these great tools :)
Don't forget what I write here could potentially be on the web. With sites such as web.archive.org anything I write could exist forever. And when I own a multimillion pound website I don't want these comments coming back to haunt me ;)

It's legitimate to be concerned about the competition finding you, but you are asking for help here... you are expecting people to private message you, basically begging to help you with YOUR problem, without having the info in the forum so it can help the community at large... what's in it for them, and what's in it for the forum? You should be private messaging the people in the forum, who you judge to be the most competent, begging THEM for help! You can private message me... if you judge me as one of the most competent (I wouldn't judge me as that though ;) ) if your problem is interesting enough I might help you... if I'm in a good mood... :p

The person you privately shared your url might mess up and post it to the forum, to illustrate an interesting effect... and there you are back square one. You should probably just hire $omeone if you are going to be that paranoid.
Not that it's bad to be paranoid! But you got to be realistic...

I agree if your in a forum then your here to share solutions or problems. Thankfully there appears to be plenty experienced people here to answer most problems. However what your asking is for some private consultancy which some people in here make their living from, why did shawn create this forum - so a community could see and learn from certain situations.

But the problem/issue can be resolved without the url (IMO) someone asked what it was, I simply said if they wanted it they could pm me. But for reasons already stated I wouldn't post it publicly.
99% of problems can be resolved with widget urls!, That's my opinion of it

I'm not! I posted my question asking for advice. You don't need the URL to offer advice on the solution, it would help I'm sure however it's not nessesary, is it?

Hello Sven, Just wanna know if your the owner of a multimillion pound website, why dont you employ a proffessional SEO who you can trust to sort out your problems, just a thought. Choose someone with a good reputation and hopefully sort out the problem.

Let me explain simply, Sven - when I asked you to PM me the URL, all you have to do is click on my name in the post and select send a private message and send the bloody thing. Why should I have to do the chasing when it is you doing the asking?
As I said then, don't bother, but obviously you don't understand so I thought I would try and explain.
But don't bother replying.

That's not how I see it, T0PS3O asked me and I said I'd pm him, with permission. Then you also asked and I said the same.
I'm not one to pm/email people without their authority. This is only after complaints of being a spammer......
Jeeeeeeeeesh calm down. IF you don't want to help fine, no need for toned comments.

I think your confidentthinking about owning a multimillion pound website when your being penalised by yahoo at the moment. I dont think Yahoo penalises anyone unless using dodgy tactics. The fact that your not giving your URL incase your competitor finds it is easily solved by using my site dot com or something similar. You have to understand that people are going to automatically think that your doing something which is classed as unsuitable SEO tactics but dont want to admit it to the whole forum.
I might be completely wrong and a glitch in yahoo has caused your site to be dropped and in this case I wish you the best of luck in getting relisted but I thought I would give the general feeling I get from reading your post.

I have crossed the line in the past, there's no doubt. When I started in the seo world I did some questionable things...However I've since super cleaned my act up and I'm super confident in saying my site is legit.
I know why I have been banned. I own a redwidget site for boys in Canada and a bluewidget site for girls in Denmark. I did a pay to submit with Positiontech submitting both the urls at the same time. The editor saw my urls (each with unique content) and in my opinion without looking closely at the content flagged them as duplicate content.
Try this, I'd bet good money it works. If one of your competitors has two sites the same or similiar content do a pay to submit with poisitiontech to get them banned. This puts the two domains in from of a Inktomi human editor for review and will get them a manual penality. It WILL work. Try it.

Hello Sven, I think most people in here would want to out rank their competitors using proven SEO tactics rather than banning them, however if they see anything they consider is abusing the system the I am sure they will contact yahoo directly.

Is it considered abusing the system? You're just putting the competitors site in front of the editors.....
Needless to say I haven't done it, but I'm convinced this is why I got my own site banned.
