I was 2nd page of yahoo for last few weeks (specifically at number 11). I was so looking forward to get in first page soon. Yesterday my site dropped to 16 from 11. Today it dropped way way down to 80.
I have not done any major changes in my site other than submitting few directories.
I also lost quite a few indexed pages in yahoo. My site is about 8 onths old.
Can you explain why it happened?

Basically, there was an update, with an unknown algorithm change that affected your website. Nothing much to say about. Yahoo just thinks, from their new point of view, that your website doesn't deserve to be where it was.

All i can say is.. YOU ARE LUCKY.
My client site dropped from #17 to #81 and then to #182. For "Horse Book" keyword. But it is in 2nd page for "horse books". I did exactly what you did. Got good ranking in google for more than these 2 keywords. Because site is well established 7 years old site. :)

Don't care too much about yahoo ranking, instead focus on google. My friend's site ranks both #1 in google and yahoo, but the traffic is google:yahoo=10:1.

I have notice one thing is that sites those are listed in yahoo directory and at same time they are also old those are coming more on top rankings.
anyone is having same experience...

Others have been working on their sites while you haven't. SEO never ends.

Something is SERIOUSLY wrong.. Over 250 keywords that we follow on Yahoo all show us as dropping off the face of the earth now. Even if you search for our own company name, we don't come up anymore. I have no idea what happened, but we're still in Yahoo's index, as the "site:" still shows 40 pages in there. They also show 21,500 backlinks to our domain.
Between this, and the goofy way Google's been treating us (putting 90% of our pages in supplemental hell), it's been a real crappy month.

SEO is never ending .Having said that I agree soemthing happened in yahoo this week, one of my sites #7 in yahoo but now is i#27.Biggest drop i have had is 2 spots in last 5 months and the site has 30% more content in past 2 months all related to the subject matter.

I dropped off the face of the universe and the keywords I was targeting were not even that competitive

Funny I was going to post as Id noticed an unbelieveable increase in my SERPS for a lot of keywords.
I had never noticed this much of a leap in the past with Yahoo but maybe I wasnt paying enough attention :-)
Hope your SERPS increase again soon!

My Yahoo listings dropped for a little while, for maybe a week or two, but then they came back up. I wouldn't get too worried. If you keep working on SEO your ranking will come back.
