Hi there,

Ok, I need help from other programmers on creating a hiring ad looking for a programmer who knows MySQL/PHP very very well.

I know there are supposed to be 3 different areas I need the programmer to have & some don't have them.

1. The DB Design
2. The Coding

& what was the 3rd thing?

What else should I put in the ad?

Security?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I need someone good who isn't going to charge an arm & a leg & allow me to give them a deposit while paying it off plus grow with my company & me.

Thanks & I hope everyone is having a great wknd.

I can do the DB design and depending on how advanced it is, the coding, and possibly the security.

I won't charge much, but it will have to after hours (when I'm off my full time job) during the night.

An ad like this will only attract the right people:

$we = "SELECT * FROM applicants WHERE 'php_skills' = 'up_to_spec' AND 'mysql_skills = 'excellent'";

if($you == "A PHP & MySQL Expert")
{
$action = "Apply Now!";
}

TOPS30 'mysql_skills needs a another single quote ;)

That's the first question you can ask at the interview. "Did you spot the error?"

It's a feature, not a bug :rolleyes: :p :o

Hi there,

1. The DB Design
2. The Coding

Michelle

1) To be determined by the information you want to collect.
2) Should be well formatted and commented for the next guy. Obviously it should yeild the desired output. Ability to use the most efficient loops and functions is a plus. A minimun amount of sql queries should be a goal. Use of indexes should be noted when reviewing code.
3) Security should be sessions and cookies when available tracked by database with group levels perhaps.
4)The one you missed is the output should be xhtml transitional with css most likely.

what i'd look for in a PHP/MySQL programmer:

- being able to design modular code with reusable components
- utilize OO principles, proven design patterns, frameworks and libraries
- create optimized db schemas and queries
- designing secure applications
- must have portfolio to back up experience
