Translating Bourne shell script to JavaScript

Hi,

I have been given a task at work to translate a Unix Bourne shell script into JavaScript to do file renaming (i.e renaming files on a server). My question is the following: I am not familiar with JavaScript and im wondering if this type of task can be done uning JavaScript.
