Signature links on DP

I would like to know if the links in signatures on DP show up as back links on google or is it only good for advertising purposes?

Putting the links in your siggy is a great way for your newly established site to get indexed, as DP is heavily spidered.
More of advertising value, than SEO though :)

Yes they appear as backlinks. If you have thousands of posts, value of sig links can be as much as PR 3 or PR 4 sites depending on the number of posts. They really help if you are building links.

Yea,also check the first link in my signauture..You could check the backlinks in yahoo and you'll find it has almost 2K backlinks from DP.

Yes, the benefit of sig link is for backlinks and advertising as well. But advertising will only be effective if you have good rep here in DP. Rep doesn't only means how many blog you have but also the way you've posted your thoughts or advice. ;)

Whenever you get a 1 way link, Think of it as pumping more water into your system. That's how I view SEO. WHen you have external links going out, thats like poking holes in your body and all that water stored in there is being drained
