We are a small company looking to implement Optigold as our billing system and possibly customer contact and/or CRM.

We have a dedicated Linux ES 3.0 hosting server and also looking into getting either Windows 2003 Standard Server or Small Business Server 2003 (SBS 2003). We would like to have Optigold on a server platform so that we can use it for the following functions:

1. multiple client access
2. remote access for billing, customer contact, CRM, etc.
3. enable online invoice history for customers
4. enable online pmt processing
5. integrate with QB2001 Premium
6. track customer inquiries and support issues
7. send out invoices via email

What would your recommendation to implement this?

Not good with servers but have colleagues to help me.

The normal installation instructions should step you through it. The most important thing being that you have FileMaker Server on your database server and FileMaker client on your employee workstations.

Are you having any specific problems with the installation?

We have not implemented or purchased any server licenses until we know exactly what we need for Optigold to do the specified functions. That's why I'm here.

Will Optigold work with SBS 2003? I guess to be more specific, will Filemaker Server work with SBS 2003? I was under the impression that we need Windows server of some sorts for Filemaker server.

Thanks for your patience.

I believe it works with 2003, but you probably will want to check with FileMaker, Inc. to confirm. FileMaker Server runs on Windows, Mac, Mac OS X and Red Hat.

Will latest version work with Filemaker 7.0?

No, you would need 5.0, 5.5 or 6.0.
