Ive just had one of my domain names unlocked by my current web host so that i can move it to my UKReg account. Ive tried using the transfer domain option in UKReg but it doesnt work (as yet). Does it take a while for the unlock to filter through? Or do i need to do something else?

I think it takes minutes. But the transfer usually takes a few days.

Is there any way of confirming if the domain has been uplocked (ie via whois - the current status is showing as: Status: REGISTRAR-LOCK
)? Obviously im trying to transfer using the UKReg transfer request but it is still currently telling me that "The domain is not transferable to UKReg".

Check it on http://www.domaintools.com/ and you could see the status on the "Registrar Status" row.

Yup its still @ REGISTRAR-LOCK at the moment - so i need to wait for that to change before i can put in the request to UKReg...

If i dont do the transfer once it is unlocked, will it revert back to be locked after a certain period of time?

If we're talking about a .com domain name here, unlocking and social contact
changes are still processed every 12AM and 12PM by the Verisign COM NET
Registry. It's DNS changes that they do at least 5 minutes upon receipt of it
from the sponsoring registrar.

Just do something productive while waiting for that to take effect. :D
