I'm having problems ranking high in Yahoo & MSN. I've always ranked very well in Google, but not the other two. I understand most people's experience is the other way around. It seems in G that their SERPs follow classic SEO guides in that high ranking sites have more and/or better links pointing to their sites whereas in Yahoo and MSN's SERPs are much more random. Using Link analysis programs, I've analyzed the backlinks of several different websites for various search terms and many times the 15th ranking page will have more and/or better links than the 1st ranking site for the same keyword in Yahoo and MSN. In Google the higher ranking sites almost always have more and/or better links than the sites ranked below them. Any thoughts for ranking higher specifically for MSN & Yahoo?

Get many more links with the anchor text you want to rank for.

Same problem for me. As a Realtor in a relatively small suburban market I don't have many legitimate competetors with regards to good web sites. Nevertheless, I rank very poorly, particularly in Yahoo. I have not paid to be in their index but have heard it isn't that helpful.

As far as links, I'm working on it but relevant links are tough since most agents don't have a linking strategy and the majority that do are using automated un-seo friendly scripts.

backlinks with rich text in them will do wonders.

Both Y! and M$N rely heavily on 'on-page' SEO.

Follow all of the classic rules for title, meta description, keyword density, prominence, alt tags, H1 tags, bold, etc.

Most of our rankings are close between all 3. #1&2 in google, #1 yahoo, #7 msn or #30 google #27 yahoo and #20 msn

Lots of the top ten are very close in all 3.

balance in on-page and off-site seo I guess.

I have tampered many websites and finally came to a conclusion that a website that goes one on google is on second page on yahoo and much later in msn .
The reason is that Yahoo and MSN mostly depend on text . While google is more on links .
I have seen websites that had their LAST paragraph in the description in Yahoo search .
Try good content .

I rank high in yahoo and MSN yet SE traffic makes up 1.5% of the total traffic to my site. Guess sometimes SEs matter very little.

Most sites I've seen charge hundreds for one link. Atlease 50 the lease amount for 1 back link, and it isn't even relevant to most sites! lol. Anyone know any good link broker sites?

Now my site's 50/50. Before yahoo 65% MSN 17% Google 7% the rest others.
Now Google 45% Yahoo 40% Msn 12% the rest others.
Now I'm high ranking in all major search engines. Yahoo gave me a lift while I disappeared from Google for about three month. Now traffic from Google regains.

For Yahoo. Before I had my own domain I used geocities and its still up. Perhaps this helped too for the good ranking now.

And now no traffic from Yahoo at all. For ABOUT SIX HOURS NOW.
