Are there more and better sources than waybackmachine and whois.domaintools ?
How can I get the names and contacts of owners that have let the domains expire ?
Is there a place where you can get for free what you get from whois.domaintools platinum membership ?

Thank you for the answers.

No. And no one's willing to offer such for free.

That was a definite answer, are you working at domaintools?:D My experience is that you can find almost everything for free if you know where to look.

I'm not working for domaintools, although I'd love to. :)

And as you said, almost. Besides, it takes money to run such a service.

Domaintools is a good place to look for an already owned domain info.

If you were lucky to found an available good name, be assured that that domain will be gone in a short while if you cannot grasp it right away.
