Hello,

It seems that I am asking a newbie question, so please do not beat me!

My site AllDotNet (http://www.alldotnet.com) is getting good amount of hits from www.overture.com

Now what is this Overture, though I am happy to get traffic, but why & how these hits are coming from Overture. Is there any significance of this traffic?

Looking for some knowledge from experts over here! ;)

Thanks

Overture is pay-per-click advertising which is owned by Yahoo. Similar to google adwords.

Umm I could be wrong, but you can still receive traffic from Overture, even if you don't participate in the PPC advertising.. am I right?

overture has always shown inktomi listings underneath the paid listings, I believe. now that its yahoo, it probably does the same with yahoo serps.

About Overture, I am currently utilizing a service through an agency which claims to be an Overture Ambassador. The company advertises my site under several different keyword phrases. The traffic is good and has been somewhat successful. I am #1 for several phrases in the sponsored listings. 20 or so qualified uniques a day.

One thing I do not like about Overture advertising is the minimum cost per click.
I think it is 10c or 15c / click whereas at google, I think minimum cost per click is
5c.
