Hi All,
I'm a little confused about the figures I'm seeing for my site today.
My visits (I assume unique visits) are down from the previous day but my hits are higher than they've ever been before.
My assumption is that more people who have been to the site before have come back. Is this correct?
Daily usage stats:
4929
Thanks in advance.

No necessarily. It could just mean that the people that are coming are just visiting more pages on your site, or are on pages with more content.
A hit is a pull of any piece of content, an image, an html file, a css file, anything
You could have one visit, and a thousand hits

Hi frankcow,
Thanks for your response. Should I see this as a good thing then? Could this be caused by bots rather than real people? It's just strange that the hits are so much bigger than another previous day.
Many thanks,
:)

I can be caused by bots.
Honestly, i wouldn't put so much thought into it that you're monitoring day by day for fluctuations. You should use it as a trending tool, unless you have a serious spike or dip

I think you're right. I spend way too much time looking at my stats. Two months ago I was only averaging 64 uniques a day and now I'm getting hung up on the fact that it's not going over 1000/day!
I can be a little anal about my stats ;)
Thanks for your help.
