When CJ was down for only a couple of hours alledgedly he lost a couple grand in eBay sign-ups (missed the next tier). Go figure his aff/AdSense income... And that's probably only a fraction of his 'real' business, billing software.

I can't measure that...
If that's confidential, can you compare it then to something? :) Let's say, how many BMW X5 3.0 you can buy per week?

anthonycea

Why are you wondering anyway?

Kasparoff
May 21st 2005, 2:59 pm
I am just wondering, because it is a cool idea to create a forum where all members can share revenue. Really, it's new to me. And I am glad!

digitalpoint
May 21st 2005, 3:00 pm
Well, this forum brings in roughly 0.002% of my income. AdSense in a forum doesn't make any amount of real money.

What Shawn makes is no one's business but Shawn's.

Ps: I make roughly one BMW X5 3.0 per week. My adsense kicks all other adsences ass. I have seventeen PR1's and my SEO and SERP are the best in the world. PM me for HTML and MySqual and abit of CO OP.

Yeah, why is that so? I guess, it is only because our forum members have a tendency for flood. Burgen of income from the forum makes them go crazy about meaningles messages. Quality doesn't matter, only quantity as I see matters. That's sad.

I think the real question here is:

When did it become socially acceptable to ask someone (especially someone you don't even know) how much money they make?

When I started my own business, I started to get that question all the time from people I just met. Seems a bit rude and weird to me...

And by the way, I make *way* more money then Shawn. He doesn't even really have a job. I built the DigitalPoint empire and gave it to him so it looks like he does something for a living. I really just send him checks because I am a nice sister. And he doesn't really have a Hummer either. Do you guys believe everything you read on the internet?! Sheesh. ;)

It became acceptable when forums were born a few years ago and people could hide behind the screen not afraid to get smacked upside the head ;)

I get it riht out in the face and it pisses me off. People see me around and about and think I do sod all, they first ask what I do (how do you explain that to someone who doesn't have a clue about the web, business or marketing). Next question is always , 'so how much do you earn then'?

I always reply, enought to pay the bills :)

I prefer the answer:
"probably more than you"
For some reason that seems to wind them up.

I always find it funny when people get all hush hush about how much they earn and equally funny when nosey people want to know how much you earn. It's probably best to say what old welshy guy says. Pity is a better feeling to have coming towards you than envy I would imagine.

Can't say I worry about how the other guy feels - if he's stupid enough to ask the question, then he's probably stupid enough to believe any answer you give.

You should make up a wage and go into every little detail of how you get every penny or cent. He'll wish he'd never asked and probably won't ever bother anyone else. :p

...they first ask what I do (how do you explain that to someone who doesn't have a clue about the web, business or marketing)... Whenever I get that question, and when people find out that I make a living via the internet, it's usually assumed that it has something to do with porn. It amazes me how clueless a lot of people are about the internet...
