I wonder if it would be better for DP if we only allowed one post per page/ per user to contain a signature like SEO Chat does. Would it be beneficial - if not why?

Nah, I don't think so... I don't think it matters much to be honest.

I didn't think it would either, but thought I'd bring it to your attention if you hadn't already thought of doing it. (which im sure you have.)

SEOChat gets a PR8 and all of a sudden its run by mini hitler type people IMO.
Would much rather spend my time in this forum then wait for half an hour for the page to load because of six million banners.

Recent tests conducted by the Search Engine Reverse Engineering Project (http://www.internet-search-engines-faq.com/reverse-engineering.shtml) strongly suggest that Google is not indexing either web forum signature links or web forum message body links.
If our preliminary results hold true in further testing, the issue will resolve itself.

I would feel a bit more sorrow for the SEOchat webiste if its owner wasn't so focused on profits that he sells prescription drug link text ads on his site.
how can they tell people not to spam while showing a buy phentamine link at the top of the page?
if you moreless buy pagerank and resell it and also have a way that is giving it away you can bet more than a few people will take you up on it.

I spend some significant time on SEO-Chat. As the popularity grew on SEO-Chat we were being inundated by spammers. The controls put in place has dramatically reduced the incidence of drive-by spammers.
Hopefully, as DP membership and popularity grows, the same thing will not happen here. If it does, something will have to be done by Shawn; it was driving the serious SEO-Chat members crazy.

I thought Gringo was one of the best moderators I have ever seen anywhere, yes I was banned over there but I do not want to look back, there are many good folks over there. I was banned at Sitepoint, there were many good folks there also, that does not mean I agree with everyone or everything that went on. But I let the chips fall where they will fall and move on.
Let the past be the past, but I will say this, Shawn has had a lot of spam the last two nights and he simply erased the posts and spam threads that had nothing to do with the subject matter that is covered here.
But, a forum is a forum, it should be open for the free exchange of ideas from both sides.
Let us just leave it at that and move on.

Tony... I agree. Life, supposed constants, and events keep moving whether we want them to or not.

I seem to be getting plenty indexed as well. This is especially true with the DP forum. :)

Lol...Did you run across this thread by chance or were you monitoring it all this time :D
Its funny that there are actually fewer spammers here then most places. I think it might be a lot of the Spammers are afraid to post here because their thread won't just be deleted...It may be analyzed and exposed ;)

No, I ran across it on accident... I wasn't monitoring it. :)
I don't know how many spammers are at other places, so hard to say... but there definitely are a fair share of them here... getting close to 300 banned users for spamming... :) Thankfully they are dealt with fast enough that most people don't notice.

A lot of people just don't get it. The whole "this will happen, that will happen". You never know til you try and obviously digitalpoint forums work. Whenever I go on seochat (and it's been about 2 months now), I see the same old people talking to one another. It's almost like watching this channel on cable where they show political sessions all day. Yes, you may get some info, but you will have to sit (read) thru a ton of nothing in order to get something here and there.
