Dear Brilliances, He is doing great with adsense. why he will sell the site? May be it looks crappy. But have you seen the first logo of Google in 1998? You will be really amazed to see how crapy it was. Look doesn't mean anything if it has lots of visitors and the site is automatic. He hardly need any marketing for this now. Customers are marketing for his website. As well as he got a big exposure going National. So more visitors. more visitors mean more money. If you have lots of money you can upgrade ur site to a better one anytime you want. that's easy logic.

I believe he answered this question directly in the video. He doesn't care to turn it into a big corporate monster. He is having too much fun doing it on his own.

I must agree. If he is making 300k+/month for let's say the last 2 years, then he is probably in a position to retire any time he likes without selling the site. Then what? Guys like him don't just retire, they need to do something. This site is his something. I say ride it out until the end... if there is an end.

Congrats Marcus!

His sites been around for little over a year or two, i'd say plenty more money to be made for him before he even decides to sell up :)

Brilliances
Oct 23rd 2006, 4:52 am
sigh... how boring it must be to work on just one site for all your life.

Guys like him are boring. Guys that ride that to the end don't know how to maximise their returns. Guys like him are one hit wonders.

And finally, Guys like him should leverage his current fame and start something new. With that much publicity already, anything he starts will be an instant success.

Fame doesn't last forever. Reap it for all it is worth when it shines on you ;)

sigh... how boring it must be to work on just one site for all your life. .

To each his (or her) own. If someone starts a brick and mortar family business, should they keep selling and changing businesses every few years just to mix things up? No, you keep growing and improving your business so you have something to pass down from generation to generation.

Having one monster site to maintain is never boring. In fact, with the amount of traffic he receives, I bet he is swamped with keeping up. You get constant e-mails from users, request for new features, complaints about other users, you have companies knocking down your door to advertise, you have to manage your online community, act as the marketing manager and the finance manager and everything else manager.

You are in a way learning and performing every job function of a typical company all by yourself.

It is never boring...

If he sells hell have a big lump sum cash of money and will have to think hard to figure out what to do with it. Whereas while he owns the site, he gets all the money he could want or possibly have a use for while he can proudly declare to the world.. "i run the biggest single man handled website". ;)

Fully agreed with you. He does have a possiblity in future if he maintains the site. May be he doesn't need to sell it for money. If he runs the site he will get fame ofcourse. He has already started getting. What do you think?

Uhm, i dont think he did that interview with the NEWS to promote to webmasters, if he wanted to promote to us hed have one of those stupid "how i mad blah blah" sites, but with the money he makes he doesnt need to bother with that does he???

Do you know how many family businesses that are passed on to the next generation survive? How many kids grow up wanting to take over the family business? I, for one, would rather prove myself. In fact, one of my friend's family is in BRW top 200 but she has no intention of working in the family business.

There's definitely more growth in it for PlentyOfFish but can he do it all alone?

Having one monster site to maintain is never boring. In fact, with the amount of traffic he receives, I bet he is swamped with keeping up. Swamped is the operative word there. Do you really call answering emails, and listening to people complain is interesting?

Do you think also that it was wrong for the YouTube owners to sell up? With $1 billion in the account.. even at a measley 5% interest, that's $50,000,000 a year - for doing nothing. Now take a seat and digest that!

And with all that passive income rolling in, imagine the possibilities... imagine the fun you can really have, creating the next idea, without having to worry about whether you're going to make enough out of it to feed yourself.

And... imagine the people you can really start helping with all that money.

Fame or Money?

Why not both?

Hey, some people can manage many sites, others prefer to focus all on one site. Sure, it's a bit risky (too many eggs in one basket, etc) but hey, he's making a ton of cash a day, so even after being taxed into the ground by the IRS it must still be quite substancial, enough to start up numerous other sites

You guys are missing the point. The real question is, why would someone earning 10k a day work in such an ugly small room with such a crappy pc?

I bet I'd go for a more "Shoemoney" route: several monitors, the most powerful computers available, and an Hummer ;)

Hes #1-3 on Google for practically all free dating phrases, and does alot of other advertising, so i think that explains itself.

I agree 100%. There are people making 10,000 aday and others eaking out a living with business at 50 a day. The thing that truly counts is they enjoy what they are doing.

Nicely done!!! I wish I could do at least 10% of that per day.

Not to get off topic, but how is it that some people can do virtually nothing with their sites and make so much money while others work like dogs every day and barely make a profit? Whatever it is, I'll bet this guy and the other Google Whores could put it in a bottle and sell it for mega-millions.

There was quite alot of talk a while ago about him simply claiming on making some giant amount of money and then all the interest (read links) it generated helped him rise up the serps. The old fake it till you make it strategy. But I'm not sure if it was ever confirmed.

So whats he selling to webmasters?... linkbait.

I think everyone already knows how much he's making.
I like the way the feature took place. Featuring the couple instead of the money. Looks like a really great couple.
