View Full Version : How to boost Alexa ranking?

axlarry
Oct 22nd 2006, 2:48 am
First off, I'm sorry if I post this thread on the wrong section. I've tried to look at all the section and search the forum, but I can't find any spesific info about this.

So, anyone can help me how to boost my Alexa ranking? Adbrite, for example, consider this quite important and some advertisers also wanted to advertise on sites w/ good alexa ranking.

Thank in advance.

axlarry

I wrote a fairly in depth review on boosting Alexa Ranking.

Just search for "manipulating Alexa" on Google.

BTW. I don't endorse or use any of the services :)

Read somewhere on DP:

1. Install Alexa toolbar
2. Set your website as the homepage

Alexa rank will improve very fast.

(This itself shows that Alexa rankings are not very reliable)

Get a lot of traffic to your website will increase your alexa ranking automatically. You shall ask how to increase traffic instead increasing alexa ranking.

avakai
Oct 22nd 2006, 7:31 pm
It depends on what ranking you are expecting. If you want something around 100,000, just install alexa toolbar and visit your site couple of times a day. However, if you are looking for 30,000 range, you need have multiple IP addresses and lot more trafic with alexa toolbar. It is easy to manipulate.
But,
[1] It is cheating to use proxy etc. to boost the rank.
[2] This rank does not improve any site trafic.

Focus on content and link building, your alexa rank and google rank go up.

yep traffic is the only way....but thats the weak point where you can cheat alexa.
the most easy way is to install alexa toolbar, and set your website as homepage.
If you want more just click more links on the page, and you'll get a better ranking:)

Only if you have the Alexa toolbar installed. Make sure you aren't spreading false information. This guy could have read your advice and spent all day visiting his own website for no reason.

chrysostom

Simple. Install their toolbar. You can also put a link to their tool bar on your website and encourage your visitors to use it.

RRWH
Oct 23rd 2006, 7:21 am
getting your own site in top 500,000 is as simple as installing toolbar and visiting your own site.

For example, if you had the toolbar installed, and you had say a blog, just by making 1 or 2 blog posts a day, you are going to at least 10 pages on your site. After a month or so, your ranking will improve. The next thing to do is of course to get real traffic to your site - a small % of the site visitors will in fact have the Alexa toolbar installed, which will further improve your rank.

IMO trying to get a high Alexa ranking has about the same merits as trying to get a high PageRank - both of these are measures only for webmasters - the average web surfer couldn't give a toss about either of these measures, and it is the average web surfer you are trying to attract to your site afterall.

I am pritty sure its alexa rank is not real....im using google analytics for tracking visiters.

once when i did few alexa hacking, it started ad 40,000 rank, and averaged 600,000 for 3 months, the site is just 10 days old.

Why dont you focus on getting better search engine rankings? That would increase your Alexa rank for good, increase real traffic, sales, income and the value of your site. Trying to cheat Alexa could only get you dubious rank which is only temporary and its not any creation of value.

It is not very accurate to say that Alexa Rank is very inaccurate :)
When Alexa Rank gets lower and lower, it gets more an more accurate. The top 10,000 rankings by Alexa is fairly accurate just like any stats. Even ranking up to 50,000 can be trusted to some extent! Do you think Google PR and other ranks are highly accurate?

FYI, I owned an autosurf related site and who cares? advertisers care so much about it. That's why I wanted so much to get a very low Alexa ranks, under 100,000 would be great.

So, again, how can I boost my alexa rankings? Is it enough by getting lost of traffic?

Alexa cannot be manipulated.

Install the toolbar, visit your own site. Sign off from your ISP, sign back on again and visit your site. If you are on a fixed IP then there isn't any point in signing off and on, and you are limited to some degree to how high your Alexa ranking can go. Alexa records the IP address.

If you're on a fixed IP, you could get one of your mates, who has the toolbar installed, to visit your site.

Oct 27th 2006, 8:52 am
You are forgetting something - Alexa ranking greatly depends on the demographic . A SEO/Webmaster/Directory site will have a higher ranking than other sites because the % of Alexa toolbar users in that demographic is higher .

For me , Alexa is some sort of an indicator for the website's traffic , I don't care if the site is 500,000 or 40,000 , but top 10,000 is often an indicator to some decent traffic .

yeah, i've been googling before and saw soooo many ppl saying it's so easy to achieve lower rank, and i've tried almost all of it, alexabooster, alexasurf.com, etc, and yet it's still not working.

Yeah, I'd agree with just about everyone here... Alexa can be skewed very easily by just having a toolbar installed on your browser. This way, everytime that you check out a few pages, it will be a vote for your site.

It sometimes helps because i know in gaming websites some publishers look at your alexa rank (activision for example) and also some advertising websites also go by your alexa rank (adbrite for example).

Although Alexa rank is innacurate, it doesn't mean it is useless.

Probably the easiest way to dramatically improve your ranking would be to follow iwb1979's advice and download the toolbar and set your page as the homepage. But don't just do this on your own computer, do it on your all your friends, family members and work computers (if you can get away with it!) too. It may not be legitimate traffic but works well when you're starting out.

Unique visitors doesn't matter. For Alexa ranking, If 1 person visit 100 pages of a site, it is better than 10 people visitng 1 page.

One with an Alexa rank between 88000 and 90000. I'm not bothered about getting a high rank, just want to prove my theory. The site gets around 1200 to 1500 uniques a day, the same now as it did when it was 2.8 million.

Alexa rank does not correlate with the actual amount of traffic you get, only the amount of traffic from those with Alexa toolbars installed.

Yes Alexa ranking can be manipulated. I use a software called RankEnhancer which Enhances your Alexa Ranking by sending you 10000s of visitors per hour. I have tried it out for my website & my rank's increasing like never before. It is a small application & you have to follow just 3 steps to start using it.

Offtopic- I have resell rights for this product. If anyone wants to buy it , just let me know. It retails for $20. I am selling it for just $5 per copy. (fully legal.) . Cant add any links though coz its my first day & first post. PM me if you want it .

Read somewhere on DP:

1. Install Alexa toolbar
2. Set your website as the homepage

Alexa rank will improve very fast.

(This itself shows that Alexa rankings are not very reliable)

This is what I have done in the past. But now my website alexa ranking just stucked in about 25k rank. Any other method to further improve it? :D

Is there no others ? I would still like more ideas. Maybe to top secret. Trial and error is best for me.

Reaching a 25 k mark is easy. One of the client sites (http://www.dublinevents.com) I work for is the same range. But how do I further improve it ?? :p

I've read that before. And i've already done all of that except creating the script... will that help? I might give it a shoot... thanks 4 the sharing.

Listen guys, while many of you claim it's useless, inaccurate, I don't see any of you REALLY have great alexa rank... and also, if it's that useless why adbrite and many advertisers consider this when they find publishers?

We want some ads (money) afterall, so if they're looking for for lower rank, i don't care if it's inaccurate as long as advertisers put their ads on my site :p
