vBulletin Update: vBulletin 3.5 - Coming Soon!

for you vBulletin forum Owners - you might want to know about this.

The folks at vBulletin have decided to name this new (upcoming) version '3.5.0' rather than '3.1.0' because the code contains some rather fundamental changes at a core level in order to support some of the new features they have implemented.

All I have to say is thank God for the new Plug in System. I'm getting tired of rehacking my boards. ;)

Interesting....... I was thinking of upgrading to Vbulletin soon, looks like this strengthens my case.

I fear this upgrade and I consider myself to know what I'm doing. :/

Everyone that was waiting on 3.1.0 and left their forums at 3.0.6 or lower had better upgrade to 3.0.7 now to have the easiest upgrade path IMO.

I upgraded to 3.07 recently. I put it off because it was such a daunting task to leave my hacks in tact (regardless of being able to use file compare tools).

Btw, the topic here should read 3.5, not 3.05.

hopefully the 3.5 upgrade will make future upgrades easily

That is the point it seems. It's a welcome change. I'm just thinking since they never forcast or announce a release, things will change significantly now that we got a two month warning notice.

I see the VBulletin.com forums are down for an update, maybe they are upgrading to the newest beta as I type.

Hopefully... the 3.5 version was supposed to go live on it sometime this week... and since this is the last day of the week...

/me bites his nails as he looks at the list of hacks he has to maintain and recode possibly!

vB are certainly upgrading to the latest version :)

They have
'Sorry, we are currently down for an upgrade to the forum software. We will be back as soon as possible.' then up the top right hand corner it has vBulletin 3.5.0 Preview

I can't wait for the new version going by what I'm reading, on the hack front I don't have that many but only time will tell what happens there.

Installed hacks don't scare me. Most are stupid simple and I'll fix them myself if needed.

I'm worried about my published hacks where other forum owners that can't code are dependant on me to get them working again!

3.5 is up (Not to download)! No, I won't be upgrading any time soon. Too much of a pain re-installing hacks!!
