Is there any chance that using the Search Engine Keyword Tracker & > Keyword Ranking Tool could hurt my Google ranking?
I found this piece of information on the following page:
"Don't send automated queries to Google." http://www.marketingexperiments.com/google_pagerank_sec2.cfm

if it did- I think Shawn, myself, and many others would be losing a lot of ground in the serps and thus a lot of money.. :)

No, it does not affect it. You can make automated queries to Google as long as you use the Google API (which the keyword tracker does). Not only that, the keyword tracker queries keywords, not specific sites. It finds sites in the results, but Google does not know which one you are looking for.

No it does not affect things using KWT
It does, or can, if you use OTHER automated tools!
Why?
Because you have to register with Google and get your API key from google to be able to register with KWT, to do these things, which you then put in KWT to legally obtain the results.
I occasionally use these other tools - dangerous - and I don't test Google when I do!!
And my results have never varied :)

Since I've started using Keyword Tracker, my SERPS have only improved.
I think it's because now I know where I should focus my efforts.
Before, I never had any idea of how well or bad I was doing with a certain keyword. Who wanted to search all those SERPS manually? Not me.
So, I'm very thankful to DigitalPoint for the tool.
Kudos.

If it did, we'd all be 'tracking' our competitors!

no, it doesn't from automated queries.
if it did then everyone would just use them on competiting sites.

You are so wrong!
here is the address:

Here is the actual text:
Fiction:
Automated "ranking checking" programs are a good way for webmasters to save time and measure their "online presence."
Fact:
Automated "ranking checking" programs violate Google's terms of service. They use server resources that should be spent on answering user requests. We strongly request that you not use rank checking programs to check your position on Google.
In case you don't think that it is an important item, note that it is No3 in the list. And in case you missed it here it is again
