I do suggest you use the search button located on the top right hand corner.

But basically , PageRank is what number a site/blog/webpage is "ranked" according to the search engine. There is no real site criteria. The criteria to get a higher PageRank (higher is better) is to get more links to your page. (There's other ways but I'm not going to go into that) , Google usually takes 3 months to update it's search engine.

If you get lost and can't find the Digital Point Search Engine , it's located at

_http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php_

hope that helps :)

Although Google updates PR usually every 90 days, there have been many cases where updates have occurred in much shorter times. Matt Cutts' recent post in his blog has a lot of information regard PR. Nothing new, but a good read as it comes from an insider.

No there is not...

Full updates have over the years occured every three months, the last is just ending and I predict the next will be in January 2007.

What the above poster is refering to is Google screw up wit BigDaddy implementation and were forced to do a couple of extra updates and now have added in a monthly "data refresh".

Hope this helps.

Hi ,
to be honest I wouldnt spend a lot of time worrying about Page Rank..
I spent the first 3 months of "SEO" life worrying about it and it hasnt got me any further :-)

Quality Content , Backlinks etc.. sing it loud...

This seems to explain it indepth

Agreed PR has little significance , unless your selling links etc, concentrate on getting back links

See google.com/technology/ for a basic explanation

I disagree. I have never had any sites get good SERPs without good PR. There is a correlation, but some people do overestimate the impact of that corellation.

PR has significance if you have a content site and in the scheme of things a high PR site/page will have a better / longer shelf life than one that has a lower PR. For example a churn and burn spamsence site that has no or low PR may rank well for several weeks but will fall by the wayside ... how do I know this ... have done many types of sites.
Overall one way backlinks that are relevent will rise a site so the top.

I've seen PR help in my case when my site climbed a rank. I was no longer #2-3 on SERPs, I jumped to #1-2. PR is useful, in my opinion, when google is trying to decide between two (or more) sites for a specific spot in SERPs. If all other criteria are about the same, the higher PR may get ranked higher.

How often do Google update its pagerank?

Google updates pagerank all the time, it's just the visual pagerank (the one you see in the toolbar) is updated about once every three months.

Wow... we keep on doing this huh?

As far as some common questions;

1. It update every 3-5 months
2. The latest is rolling around the Data Centers slowly
3. Page rank is a live calculation - It is the ToolBar PR that is exported. This is actually what we're on about for the most part.
4. Another update is unlikely due to the Weather forcast; http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/fall-weather-forecast/

Some recent PR stuff; http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/more-info-on-pagerank/

Now on the VALUE of page rank, there was plenty of that with the last export; http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=1136514#post1136514

My end take;

Google’s Page Rank system has it’s values as far as being a factor in the algorithms decision making but should in no way be considered a focal point of a meaningful SEO/SEM campaign. It is best used by webmasters in understanding the relevance value of a website and for identifying potential ranking bottle necks and red flags a site may possess. It’s mere existence denotes a value is inherent within SEO activities, but without a true measurable value, it is not a viable target for marketing investments

yea.. that is PIGEON RANK not PAGE RANK it's a Joke from hte PLex a few years back..lol...

I wrote a rather 'controversial' RANT on the whole TBPR thing earlier this year; http://www.site-reference.com/articles/Search-Engines/The-Google-Toolbar-PageRank-Demystified.html

While it doesn't explain PR, it addresess the issues of VALUE of PR in one's SEO strategic thinking...

just wait for the updates and focus to the other important things to do while your waiting for updates.

Yes and important thing could perhaps be: “get a link to your site!”
