How AwStats treats MySpace loads - the answer

After much heated debate in myspace sites sales threads, I decided to look into my server logs to find the definitive answer. My observations are:
- images are not counted as pages, only as hits
- cursor files (.cur and .ani) are counted as pages as well as hits.
Therefore, unless your site serves a large amount of cursor files, your awstats page loads will be a fair representation of your real page loads.

In the default AWStats configuration, the following extensions are not counted as pages : css, js, class, gif, jpg, jpeg, png, bmp, ico and swf. All other extensions are pages.

You can add more extensions in the list with the NotPageList directive in the AWStats config file (if your host lets you access it).
