I just found SEVEN Digital Point members that were taking my money in subscription payments each month but not showing my links any longer.

I've been traveling a lot lately so I wasn't keeping up with making sure my links were up each month. But I learned my lesson - seven different members were defrauding and scamming me.

I've sent each of them e-mails asking for explanations and refunds. I'll post their usernames here if they refuse to do the right thing to protect other members from being cheated.

"SEVEN" is how may percent of your purchase?

I'm going to give them a chance to explain and refund the last few months' payments. Maybe they all have good explanations (though this is doubtful).

If they don't make good, I'll post their names here and file disputes with PayPal, at the very least.

I hate people like that. Happened to me before so I make sure it won't happen to anyone I sell links to. Only conflict I had like this was when I sold a website and told the guy to keep the links on but he didn't. But he put them right back when I confronted him about it.

This practice caused me to stop by links here for a good long while sometime back. I was tired of buying links only to have them up for a few weeks then vanish.

I would suggest post both their names and websites. You know how easy they can get a new account.

I think, you should do the same. This will help all other members.

And so you should, if they dont refund you or give you legitment reasons please post their names so other members can be safe from frauds.

I myself hate people who dont keep their committments.

Thanks for sharing this.

I'll keep track of this thread. I want to know who I'm dealing with. Keep us posted please about this issue. Thanks.

Are the people involved still actively (last few days) selling links on the DP forum. If so I'd try to call them out in their sale thread (ie please PM me regarding our outstanding link placement).

Please keep us informed.

Thanks.

I couldn't agree more. I absolutely hate to fact that I have to check up on the links. It is such a bad usage of time on something I shouldn't have to do. In fact, I have gotten bad about doing it lately. I need to start checking again. I have over 1800 links I check in my program...so, it's all setup to do it. Just finding the time to actually do it is the trouble. I know I will find ones that are not there, and then I have to spend time emailing, etc.

Most importantly that is a breach of trust and breaking the deal. You should sort damages from them.

thanks doppy, i too would like to know who does this.

i keep a detailed log and check in often, but it seems that some people figure "out of sight, out of mind."

p.s. i can't wait to hear all the excuses!

I just downloaded your software to give it a try. Just a suggestion, it would be great if you could set an expire date for the sites it checks (maybe a notification as well to renew).

Interesting idea. Thanks for the feedback. Since I usually always renew, I hadn't really thought of that. If I discontinue an advertising, I just remove the site from the list. I think it's a good idea, though. Should it just not check a site that expires, automatically delete the site from the list, or did you have something else in mind?

I was thinking of a notification a week or so before the expiry and if you don't renew (change the expiry date) automatically delete it from the list.

Another thing that I think that it would be helpful is to be able to create fields in the notes. For example, email of seller (contact details in general), transaction IDs, date of purchases renewals and type of link (sitewide, one page, footer etc). One final suggestion (although maybe a bit far fetched) integration with popular email clients (an email seller button that will launch the default email client, maybe even using templates :D for renewals, missing links, changes etc).

Just my first thoughts, I haven't really tested it a lot yet so I might be missing a few of the features it already has.

Sorry to hear that..That sounds terrible..Usually I check my links twice a month..Once I find that they've removed my links,I contact them instantly ..
Fortunately I haven't found any one has removed my links without any notification..

Yes, I've had similiar problems, especially with link exchanges. You start the link exchange, they link back for a month or so and take away your link. Not very good business tactics at all. :(

Wow that's bad! I am definetely keeping an eye on this thread to see how it goes...

I've heard, although not experienced yet, luckily, about:

links removed
links moved to deeper or less prominent position than agreed
links altered so not clickable (but that look like they still are)
links transformed to redirects
links added (more than promised and diluting the strength)
links with image instead of actual anchor text
links with no follow added

and there's more, some of which I won't even dare to say, in case it inspires someone...

reputation is everything I think when dealing with someone over the net and luckily within a community such as dp's, there's a way of finding out, or at least an idea, good enough for small transactions.

Beware!
