View Full Version : Mass link spamming no longer a good option?

I was all excited when I wrote my link spammer back in July and started spamming thousands of blogs and forums every day, but I think it backfired as those sites got banned a lot quicker than normal. Has anyone had any success targeting thousands of links? I'm thinking I need to be more selective in the sites I spam..possibly a PR filter.

Maybe you got banned because people reported you for spamming. Just a thought.

You can make thousands a week link spamming sites on parasite hosts. Not only is your statement wrong, it is still useful today depending on what your doing.

Link spamming will never / and should not be thought of as a long term marketing strategy. You don't want to link spam a domain on one of your servers that you are paying for.

Link spamming is still VERY effective for MSN and yahoo, and if you can get a parasite host on a site with 'authority', it is also still effective on google for about 2 weeks at the most.

I was saying that spamming in general is bad.
Most webmasters get spammed daily (forum spamming, blog spamming, email spamming, whatever...) by people like yourself.
So has it ever been good?

NO WAY!!

People that spam make me sick. Don't you realize that by doing so you are scum? How about coming up with a real marketing stratgey instead of being a parasite.

I agree except the "scum" sentence. It is a little bit much for me.

It is interesting to see someone opening a thread and saying, "hey i am doing spam.. What is the problem?" :) The problem is spamming..

Scum is an understatement!

Hell, even physically visiting a site and registering just to post a link is one thing, but to create and use an active link spamming software!!

GTH!

The thing is the internet is a waste of time anyways...there are too many worthless websites so I am doing y'all a favor by my link spamming. Thank me later.

2 words of wishful advice: dont spam

There is the ethical blackhat, and there is the ugly blackhat. Guess where spamming falls under?

Exactly! I personally don't have a problem with people spamming Google (unless it's in my SERPs when I'll go and report them) but if they start spamming my sites then I'll email everyone possible - their host, Google, domain registrar and ISP

Funny how everyone is laughing yet some of the same people that crack jokes are PMing me how to make big bucks...you white hats are too funny. Here's some news for you...most of the whitehats who say they don't do blackhat do.

I hope with that you're not inferring that I've PM'ed you? 'If' I wanted to learn anything else about blackhat I'd go to someone who was actually a success and not posting on a forum as his sites kept getting banned ;)

Besides, like I said, I have no problem with people using blackhat tactics, (though I'll report them if the turn up in my SERPS - just playing 'the game' after all ;) but spamming forums and blogs is about as anti-social as it gets. Like I said, as soon as it happens to any of mine I fire off an email to Google, their host, their domain resistrar and ISP, I suggest others do the same.

can you send me a link for submitting that kind of info? My forum gets nailed often.

thanks,

MattUK

It's a pain to do as you have to go to different souces to find and submit the info.

You can report sites to Google here -
http://www.google.com/contact/spamreport.html
It's not stricly meant to reposrt forum spam etc, but spamming links goes against their webmaster guidelines

After that I look at their Whois and find the registrar, host and ISP and fire off an email CC'ing them all and including a screenshot of the link and the properties to show the target.

Hosts usually take action first, especially if they recieve several complaints.

I've been reported to Adsense, my webhosts, the proxy IPs I use, you name it. Nothing happens. It's not worth your time. Although as you should have inferred from the thread title, mass link spamming isn't something I do much anymore.

As you know Dave, the blackhat forums are the place to talk. DP is very much anti-blackhat.

And yes, a lot of "whitehat" SEO's do blackhat stuff, or would be considered blackhat stuff. I know lots of blackhats that do whitehat stuff too. It's the stereotype that BlackHat people only do blackhat and that's it. C'mon, they're (we're :)) a lot smarter then that. Give a little credit.

It's all relative. Shit, getting links to boost rankings for the search engines could be considered "blackhat". All relative.

For people that get spammed, um...learn how to use CAPTCHA or another verification type. All of my custom user-generate scripts have some sort of verification, to avoid spam. If you don't want it, educate yourself.

As for your question, I'm not sure why. Might need to tackle blogs that aren't old or have been updated on a recent basis. Most spammers go after old sites that haven't been posted to in a while, cause they know the link won't get removed. Of course, going after sites that are updated often are more likely to get your spam removed or they'll have some sort of spam prevention in place, so little bit of a catch-22. There are other ways to get links. Think outside the box a little bit.

You obviously know nothing of blackhat SEO if you think I am concerned with a site dropping from the index, I probably lost a few domains writing this post. Adsense account? Check. Hosting? Check. ISP? Check. I'm good to go.

Ofcourse not, and dont even think about comment spam. It will be of no use at all lately, because of our friendly attribute (rel="nofollow") :D
