hi guys!

please help me out. im a little confused... inbound links are those links that point to your site from sites other than your own, right? what im confused about is, my blog. i do have other sites linking to me... but it seems like i still don't have inbound links.

have you guys tried pingoat.com/goat/blog_worth ?
i enter the url of my blog to see how much it's worth, but it says "No Inbound Links!"

i'm confused. am i missing something here?

Have you tried any other tools to check inbound links?

yes, i've tried a few, but what i'm confused about is... like in technorati... it lists blogs that link to me.. but it also says.. 'no blogs linking to this blog'.. it's really quite confusing..

I'm not sure what the "pingoat.com/goat/blog_worth" thing is but if you want to check the inbound links the search engines registered about your site you can use the link command in the searchboxes:

Just type in link:yourwebsiteaddress (you need to include http:// on Yahoo)

This should give you a list of inbound links the serch engines have registered about your site.

Please remember though that Google provides very scarce information about backlinks. Only a few of the links are usually shown.

Yahoo provide much more reliable information but does not provide all inbound links you have either.

Google only shows a sampling of backlinks.

I don't really understand technorati, but I think it only show backlinks among sites that are registered. Most pages on the web are not tracked by technorati AFAIK.

The best tool to see sites that are linking to you IMHO is Yahoo!. Go to http://search.yahoo.com/ and type link:[your site] e.g.

https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/advsearch?p=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.new-eastside.com&bwm=i&bwmf=a&bwms=p

You should use free tools like Link Popularity Check to see the links coming to your site.

Yup, you have to take technorati, pingoat info with a pinch of salt. To determine backlinks, the system must traverse the every single site on the entire web which takes what... a zillion year if you do not have super IBM server running on a ziga-bit internet backbone.

The point is, best way to check your backlinks is still use search engines like yahoo or google because traversing link is what they do best.

Have a look at uptimebot.com which provides multi-level details (PR, backlink) about your site among the few popular search engines.

I guess you're right.. I shouldn't really worry about technorati or pingoat, right? I'm just confused coz some of my friends have backlinks or "Blogs that link here" in technorati and I don't. :p Anyway... thanks for the tips guys!!! I really appreciate it. :)
