Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows which is best, if indeed any, when it comes to using keywords in a URL. For example:

http://www.fantastickeywordbargains.com/ (http://www.fantastickeywordbargains.com/)
http://www.fantasticbargains.com/keyword/ (http://www.fantasticbargains.com/keyword/)
http://www.fantasticbargains.com/keyword.html (http://www.fantasticbargains.com/keyword.html)
http://keyword.fantasticbargains.com/ (http://keyword.fantasticbargains.com/)

I'm speaking in terms of SEO. The words fantastic bargains could, obviously, be anything here, but it's the first thing that came to mind.

Any ideas or hunches? Or would they all equate?

Cheers

Chris

For google.... It is generally thought that the URL plays a small role in their rankings.

#1 is the worst. Google would see this as one word. You would need to use the dash for google to see the keyword i.e. fantastic-keyword-bargains. Don't use fantastic_keyword_bargains as google doesn't see the underscore as a space.

#2 and #3 would be of the same value imo.

#4 Not enough personal experience - besides google treating it as a different domain, I've seen some have pretty good results but can't say if it is any better than #2 or #3.

Cheer, what you say makes sense. Thanks.

You can't register a URL with an underscore in it, can you?

Better u put - in keyphrase for space. 1st one is more appropriate for it.
