Best thing for you is to buy the book written by Ben Forta on ColdFusion. It's an intellectual read, but once you get into it, you're good to go.

ProfileBuyer mentioned the Ben Forta book. That's called the ColdFusion Web Application Construction Kit. I am a CF developer by day and that book is my first source of reference when I code. It's very comprehensive and good to read front to back. There is an advanced edition which is for more specific for the higher level implementations of CF. I suggest going with the CFWACK for a book and www.EasyCFM.com for tutorials.
