I have recently been told about the google webmaster tools, so decided it would be a good way to keep track on my blog. I have done everything that is neccesary, I have put copied the meta tag they have given me, gone over to my blog, (using BLOGGER btw) chose the layout tab of my blog and then edit html.

I have then pasted the meta tag from webmaster tools under the <head> section of the html saved the page and gone back to webmaster tools to verify. However I keep getting the "We couldn't find the verification meta tag." message when I try.

Can somebody please help me. What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it :)

I hate to bump this (and dont know if it will get me an infraction) but it's 7 days old with no reply, I am still having trouble and cant find anyone who knows how to help

can any one tell me the major advantages of submitting the site in webmaster tool?? What are the benefits on Ranking of this??

I dont think there are many benefits directly to ranking but you can view how people interact with your site so you can try different ads on different pages and using different styles/fonts etc. So the knowledge and feedback it gives you can then be put to helping your earnings and maybe even rankings
