View Full Version : So we all know Urchin, AWStats, and Webtrends

There are a lot of stats modules out there. Urchin by far is the cleanest, but at $895 or $495 a month for 100K page views it's too expensive for me.

What stats packages have you used that you find valuable? I don't mind spending some money, and urchin is probably on the horizon for me, but $900 has so many more uses for me than web stats.

I use AWStats, and I like it better than webtrends, but the thing I liked about urchin was click-paths, a cleaner interface, and a crazy-easy setup. I'm not necessarily opposed to an offline viewing mechanism that would require me to download my raw stats files.

The $895 Urchin package lets you do 100 sites. Buy Urchin and "rent" some of the slots to other people. ;)

I would certainly be interested in chipping in for a slot or 3, I assume it's within their terms due to the fact Shawn suggested it. Is it worth seeing how many other members may want to take part in this.

I may be interested...

Well, lets see...

Broken down, it would cost 9 bucks a slot.

Take into account that people are taking a risk - since who knows how long I'll be around. (My servers been up for a few years now and I have no intention of going anywhere, but nobody REALLY knows me). Also you have to take into account that there's no way I'll even find fifty takers.

I'd be willing to do it if 10 people will pony up 45 bucks for up to 5 slots - which isn't a great deal, but I don't want to deal with 95 different users either.

If anybody is interested, please PM me and when 10 people sign up I'll collect money and make the purchase. Conversely, if someone wants to do it cheaper... let me know so I can sign up.

or you could put your sites on a [$99] server at ev1 and get urchin for free...

Personally, I wish they would just hurry up with Urchin 6... it's so nice, I can barely wait. :)

Shawn, do you have any information as to when Urchin 6 software might be released. I'm just about ready to purchase Urchin but I don't want to purchase Urchin 5 right now if Urchin 6 is coming out real soon. (Unless of course I knew that I'd be eligible for an upgrade.)

Urchin 6 is available for $199/month.

Urchin 6 software, not urchin 6 on demand. Urchin 6 software has not yet been released and is still on version 5.

I talked with the urchin guys at SES. Urchin 6 should be out towards the end of this year.

The $895 Urchin package lets you do 100 sites. Buy Urchin and "rent" some of the slots to other people. But it is 100 sites on 1 server, isn't it? I have spare slots on several servers that I would loan/give out but I don't think the 100 sites can span multiple servers.

<EDIT>Nevermind. Just noticed how old this thread was :P </EDIT>

Urchin has built in functionality to ftp the files from a different server. It will only analyze one log file per configured site though - so if you are doing different logs for a single site, it will take up as many slots as you have log files.

The next version is meant to be incredible (Our Google rep told me as they are bound to).

I think someone is going to come down and give me a walkthrough in the next week or two...

I'm really looking forward to seeing it.
