That's probably impossible.

From my POV, Microsoft use Yahoo! for their needs (Poor Yahoo!) just because of current Bing buzz & traffic, I think that Bing is just a bit better than Live and Live was.. Terrible.

If they can't get basic things for years (Both of them), Can't see how it will work out now, They are probably trust in the Traffic stats to speak.

Just about everyone uses Google for one reason or another. Weather it is for the tools Google provides or using it as a search engine. No one will beat Google.

Don't know the exact answer cos it will really be based on the people who
are surfing the net.. If ALL the users would switch to Yahoo or MSN then that is their decision.. then Google that time would be down..

I think it will be hard for yahoo and Microsoft to beat google but it might be their biggest competitor yet. Yahoo have shown a drop in advertising revenue and need some help. Microsoft had already tried to buy up yahoo to try and harness their traffic for bing. So really yahoo is getting used and also getting some shared revenue from microsoft. Microsoft want to take googles crown as SE king/queen before google releases its new operating system. Ballsy move by microsoft i think.

I'm sure that Yahoo and MSN together may have a very hard time beating Google on it's own world. Google is really the Number One search engine in the internet world.

But then, the world always turns around... Maybe Yahoo! and MSN have more bullets that we haven't seen yet, so it is also wise for Google to be ready.

But for me, Google is the one. :)

BING is a fad in my opinion which will grabs some users on launch due to advertising or whatever reason. Users will test it and play for a while with their oohs and ahhs and then go back to their normal Google "routine". Google is a simple no gimmick tool in which controls the search market. I highly doubt that yahoo or msn either independently or together will surpass google.

Don't think it will happen anytime soon. Google currently holds an excelent position, in capability and services, which means that only with a great mess-up and web users behavior change would there be a chance for that to happen.

At this point, I think that the only one that can hurt Google, is Google itself.

Over the past few years, there's been a grumbling of sorts (if you could call it that) by people who aren't necessarily getting what they want with regard to local info and search.

The large indices (Yahoo, Google) have gotten the message .. albeit somewhat .. that something needs to be done on more of a local level with regard to search.

Both Yahoo and Google have implemented certain plans to address the local search questions, but it's felt that not enough still, is being done.

Google, somehow thinks it's enough to list sites like local.developer.com and mytravelguide.com in the top results to handle the kinds of local queries that are going on. If you visit these kinds of sites, #1, you would not find what you want, and #2, there are no down and dirty direct local listings .. only summations .. people don't like those kinds of results.

Over the past few years, small, local, search entities have been popping up that are intimate with the needs of their local communities. I can see this progressing over time, and it may not necessarily bring any major search engines down, per se, but they may cut into the revenue flow to the larger search engines over time, and hamper their ability to sell local advertising.

Trouble being that there really isn't much technology out there that is younger than 5 years old. The Youtube, Facebook, and Myspace technologies existed as far back as 2002 (or even earlier) .. Google merely bought that technology.

No. The reason is google is controlling or having 70% of the search engine market, mean that all other search engines combine together can only get 30% of the market. 70% against 30%, the result tell the answer

I am not sure about what will be in future. But i want to make you aware that before google, yahoo was on top of search engine.
