It is worthless as an SEO tool. It is only good for the direct traffic the link might give.

First choose questions that cover your expertise, then it becomes natural to include a link in the answer.

Yahoo answers is a lot like craigs list- "Good for about 2 days"... Its gets indexed VERY WELL the first day for a niche keyword term, but then later falls off - 2-3 rd day at best. Good for marketing though. Check the threads, 1 guy is doing it for 1.00 per and he will guarantee top answer with you link.

Yahoo Answers isn't a tool. It's a venue where you post comments to questions by other users. Posting in Yahoo Answers is a good way to boost site traffic, esp. if you answer has been flagged as the best!

You can look up someone who has a question related to your business or what you are promoting. Then once you found an interesting article to reply to, you can include an answer to the question along with a link to your site offering more information, ect.

The links in yahoo answers are nofollow so if you are looking for seo links or PR, it's not useful.
BUT, it's good if you do it the right way, because you get direct traffic and a good marketing image for your site. "The right way" means: forget spam, don't link your sites if the article is not really related. Answer questions before linking your sites, try to reach at least level 2 or 3.

I've been doing some Yahoo Answers marketing in the past month and granted it yields no SEO benefit, there mere traffic that is possible is spectacular. It's definitely worth looking into.

putting your link on random pages that you find is a way of promotiong your site, just like yahoo answers. The key with yahoo answers is to find something that your site relates to and then post a valid answer to the topic that contains information to your site. You see people all the time spamming and it takes away from it.

You have to search for OPEN questions related to your products and services and recommend them.

I don't think you will gain boost in Google with it. However, it is a good method to get some direct traffic.

I hope that all of you realize that not every link that you place has to have "SEO value" I also hope that you realize that a nofollow link still gets crawled by other engines. Google is the only spider that completely ignores the link attached to the nofollow code. Yahoo indexes the site it points to, but doesn't pass any authority, all others index the link without any issues.
Direct traffic links are just as important as any link that you'll place for an SEO reason. Think of it as advertising for your site. If you answer a question, and it's picked for the best answer, then you can place your link so people can go learn more from your site.

Yup rightly said google is the only search engine which truely skip no follow links so we shouldn't discourage comment posting the other search engines crawl it.

Well I do know that alot of people use yahoo answers to market their materials, but on the other hand, they also can get reported like that too if a person thinks it's a scam...even if it's not. So just be careful.

Hi,
The best way to make use of Yahoo answers for your business promotion is to look for the questions related to your niche, answer them using your expertise and direct them to your website page where you have already provided the answers to their questions in detail in form of informative articles having your affiliate products or website link.

I think Yahoo Answers also helps in getting your site promoted because you create buzz and it's useful to have people talk about it. Voting it as the best answer is also a good move for your site.

Yeah yeah its not really good as an SEO tool..
Yahoo answers is good source for targeted traffic...
Cos you can do advanced search where you could choose the related questions
close to your site....
